reading a file with extension .FTW (Family Tree Maker?)

I own a Mac using OSX and I have a copy of Reunion 8. A distant relative just emailed me a "Family Tree Maker" file with information about our family. Is there any way I can view this information? I am unable to open it or import it from within Reunion. Is there any free converter that I can download? Converting to Reunion would be ideal but converting to anything readable would be sufficient.

Thanks,

Bob Murphy

According to the Reunion help, Reunion can not open any files in the FTW format. What you need to do is request your relative send the file as a GEDCOM file. Any recent version of Family Tree Maker should be able to do that.

Once you get the GEDCOM file, you can import it with no problem. :-)

Hope that helps!

I have a Windows 7 computer and it will not except my Family Tree Maker Program. I have had this program for many years and hate to loose it this way. Can you all help me with this problem?

Family Tree Maker 2011 works with Windows 7. It's not an expensive upgrade, and it will read your older FTM files. You'll get some new features with it too.
