I am looking for any links to MARTIN KANE born in 1824, died in 1884. He and wife Bridget? first show up in the Susquehanna County census, Franklin Township in 1870. 1866 was the first year they showed up on Susquehanna county tax records.

Information I have shows them with the following children: Bridget 1849, Thomas 1854, John C. 1861, Catherine 1863, Martin 1864, Jane L. 1865, Bridget 1866, Elen 1869, Elizabeth 1870 and Jane 1874.

I am particulary trying to find out where Martin may have lived prior to coming to Susquehanna County, when he might have immigrated from Ireland, any information on his siblings/parents, etc. Is anybody else reserching this KANE family?

I hope your still in search of your Martin Kane...I have a couple questions i would like to ask you...The Martin Kane that i am looking for would be my great grandfather, born around 1869...His father may have been named Martin as well..my great grandfather Martin married a woman by the name of Susan McMahon and they had 8 children.(7 boys 1 girl) including my grandfather John C...I was curious to know if the Martin Kane you are looking for may have been my grandfather's grandfather...My grandfather, John C was born in 1894 Gulf Summit, Pennsylvania, later residing in Susquehanna, Pa..Does any of that sound familiar to you at all...

Patricia,
Sorry it has taken me so long to check the Martin and John Kane's you mentioned in reference to my query about Martin Kane. I have 15 John's and 8 Martin's in my research data. However, I do not believe any of them are the connection you are seeking. The closest Martin I have was born about 1864 - 1947 and was married to a Kate Mahauner. I have no information on children, etc. for them. The closest John C. Kane was born 1893 -1970 but I have no information on a wife....his parents were James and Mary McCormick Kane. JOhn C. is buried in St. Augustine's Cemetery in Silver Lake, PA. I hope you are successful with your search.

I do not have any information about your Martin Kane. The Kane's I am researching all lived in Northeast Pennsylvania in Susquehanna County (Forest Lake, Silver Lake, Choconut Townships).

Sorry I couldn't be of assistance.

Gulf Summit is, and was in 1895, in Broome County, New York -- just over the state line from Pennsylvania -- see 1895 atlas here http://www.livgenmi.com/broomeNY.htm Was there also a community called Gulf Summit in PA at that time?
