Hello Barb,
I happened to see your message tonight. I was born near Kliplev too(Bjerndrup) and have two very old aunts (90+) still living in that region. I will try to contact them on weekend, perhaps they have some further
information.

Hello Heinrich! How very nice to "meet" you. Thank you for responding to my inquiry. I have learned many things since I posted it. This I believe is true. See if this sounds familiar to you.
Jens Iversen's middle name was Christian. He was born at Sveirup, Aabenraa, Denmark. His parents were Jens Iversen (sometimes called George) and Maria Christina Lorenzen. Jens (George) was born jan 25, 1811 in Traasbol, Asbenraa, Denmark; Maria was born May 13, 1820. Maria's parents were Jurgen Lorenzen and Maria Dorthea but I have no further info about them. Jens' (George) parents were Jurgen Iversen (born about 1772) and Christina Margretha Boysen, no further information about her. Jurgen's parents were Iver Jurgensen and Mette Jensen, no further information about them either.
Jens Chrisitan Iversen (born Dec 2, 1854 in Sveirup) emigrated to America somewhere around 1881, I think. He married Trinke Asmussen in Chicago, IL, America Oct 13, 1888. Trinke Margaretha Asmussen was born in 1861 and her parents were Lawrence Asmussen and Trinke Margaretha Jacobs. She also emigrated to America about 1881.
I think there were 8 children in Trinke's family. She was also a triplet. Her triplet brother, Ges (Jesse) Nissen Asmussen, was nursed by a local lady who recently lost a baby - that's the story. And because their name was Nissen, that is why Jesse also has that name. It appears that he emigrated with Trinke, as well as some of their other siblings, but Trinke's triplet sister, Anne Marie, stayed in Denmark. Also, some of Jens' family emigrated with him as well.
Does any of this info sound familiar to you? Do you think, perhaps, we are related? Jens Christian died April 4, 1928 and Trinke died in 1950. Their only son, John Asmus Iversen, was my grandfather. He was born in 1896 and died in 1986. Jens and Trinke's oldest daughter, also Trinke, was born about 1890 but died about 5 years later in a terrible farm wagon accident. Jens and Trinke had another daughter, Mary Trinke, who was born in 1893 and died, I think, in the early 1980's. She married her first cousin, Andrew "Happy" Petersen, who I believe was the son of one of Trinke's sisters. They never had children.
John Asmus Iversen had 9 children. One of them, Warren Lee Iversen, is my father. He was born in 1934 and is presently still living.
Please, I hope that you can tell me more. This is very exciting. I have had two cousins who have traveled to Denmark trying to find out information about our ancestry. But it is difficult because both Jens and Trinke were from the area of Schleswig-Holstein which I think is now part of Germany. Jen's 17-yr-old brother, Peter, emigrated with him. In America, he received a notice from the German army that he was drafted! But he did not go because he was already here!
Jens and Trinke always maintained that they were Danish, and not German, so we, their descendants, have believed that we have Danish ancestry also.
If you'd like to email me directly, my email address is: barbieleeiver@juno.com. I am excited to meet you and look forward to receiving more messages from you, or from your aunts or both!
Take care!

Detlef married Johanna Sophia Elizabeth Oloff. Johanna was born the 26th of april 1861 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and she died on the 2nd of november 1933, also in Rotterdam. They married on the 24th of july 1878 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and Detlef died on the 22nd of january in 1919, also in Rotterdam. (I can assure you that this is true, Johanna and Detlef were my father's grandparents)
Can you keep me up about your further search? I can't find much also about my Danish ancestry.
Sincerely,
Valerie.
