AM SEARCHING FOR ANY INFO ABOUT THE MACRI/RACO FAMILIES. I KNOW THAT THE RACO NAME IS FROM MOLOCHIO, REGGIO CALABRIA. MY GRANDFATHER WAS DOMINICO RACO B-1845 D-1917. HIS FATHER WAS FORTUNATO RACO, AND HIS MOTHER WAS MARY MACRI. MY GRANDFATHER EMIGRATED TO THE UNITED STATES SOMETIME IN THE 1900'S, AND THEY LIVED IN AMSTERDAM, NY AND SETTLED IN LITTLE FALLS,NY.
SINCE ALL OF THE OLDER FAMILY IS GONE WE ARE HOPING THAT SOMEONE MIGHT HAVE SOME INFO ON THESE FAMILIES. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
SHIRLEY

My grandfather was born in Reggio Calabria. His name was Frank Raco and he had a brother Fortunata. They lived i the east end of Amsterdam. I know they had relatives either in Little Falls or Rome, tha t area. My grandfather was born in 1886 and died in Amsteram in1944. He had ten children. My father Richard was the oldest. There are still six siblings living, four boys and two girls. Three of the boys live in Florida but the other boy and both sisters live in Amsterdam. My aunts and uincles may be able to give more info. Fortunata was alive when I was a child and I was born in 1938. I don't know when he died though.

Hi Shirley,

I have been searching for information on my great grandfather, Carlo Raco, born in approx. 1865 in or near Gerace, Molochio, or Plati. He was adopted, and I do not know if Raco is his birth name or the name of his adoptive parents. There is a connection between the Macri family and the Raco family. In the early 1900's, Pete and Dominic Raco, from Italy, lived in HIllsville, PA and were boarders in the Macri home, with Joe Macri as head of household. Carlo Raco, married to Carmela Bumbaca Albano, and lived in Hillsville, PA at the same time. I do not know if Dominic Raco and Pete Raco were related to Carlo Raco.

If anyone has any information on these Raco's or Macri's I would be very interested. Have you discovered anything else about Fortunato Raco and Mary Macri?
Stephanie

Dear Stephanie,
Have yet to learn of my great granparents Fortunato & Mary info. My grandfather Domenico & his wife Palma who was a Melara came to the U.S. in 1907 aboard the ship Virginia. They brought 3 of their daughters and 1 son with them. They went to Amsterdam, NY where they had 3 sons and then on to Little Falls, NY. I don't reconize the name Carlo, but that doesn't mean somehow they are not connected. Most of the family are dead and what info we get is third hand. If I hear of any more info I will let you know.
Keep in touch. That 2nd response was from a long lost cousin who's grandfather was my dad's brother.
