Free websites vs Ancestry and other fee based sites

I'm begging all genealogy buffs and researchers to patronize the free websites such as RootsWeb, FamilySearch, GenWeb, Find A Grave, etc. and only use them to upload their family trees, research data, databases and helpful information for other researchers. When Ancestry first bought RootsWeb all the trees and message boards appeared on both websites, but now it's virtually impossible for non-members to access family trees on Ancestry, even with permission from the submitter. I know it takes money to maintain websites, but the bombardment of TV ads for Ancestry makes it obvious that their main object is to make money. I'll take the side advertising that appears on the free websites any day. I only submit the cemetery records, marriage records and other research databases I have done to websites that offer free access to researchers.
