Betty,

You may already have discovered that Samuel and Jacob, Jr. were brothers. Father was Jacob, Sr., mother was Judith ??

Samuel moved to Liberty Co. Georgia about 1770. Jacob, Sr. died about that time in Johnston Co, NC. Jacob, Jr. was declared insolvent in 1793 and 1796, then moved to Liberty Co, GA with his son, Samuel and daughter Nancy.

Your relation is through Jacob, Jr's daughter Edea, who married James Hall.

Y-chromosome DNA suggests strongly that my Ethelred Delk is also a child of Jacob, Jr. based on testing of 2 Delks descended from his uncle, Samuel, Jacob Jr's brother.

Thank you so much for confirming this as Jacob Delk Jr. I suspected but could not get confirmation.

Do you know whether Joseph Delk is related to Jacob Delk (Jr. or Sr.)?

1784-1787 Johnston County, N. C. Census
Delk Jacob 1 3 3 0 0
Delk Joseph 2 0 3 0 0

1790 Johnston Co. NC census
Delk Jacob 2 3 2 0 0

Combined search--Johnston Co. NC
Delk Jacob 1784
Delk Jacob 1790
Delk Joseph 1784

In 1810 or 1820 there was a Joseph Delk in Orange Co. NC

I would love to know all the children of Jacob Sr. and of Jacob Jr. I am finding it difficult to research this Delk family. I have suspected that Ethelred was connected but based on the slender proof that my Edea's son was Reddick/Riddick. I have also run into a Redden.
