I am a descendant of Major and Julia Coltrain of Martin Co. I have seen your posts previously regarding Hershel A. Coltrain. I was recently researching at the Martin Co. Register of Deeds and remember seeing the name Hershel Augustus Coltrain mentioned regarding a sale of land in the 1870's (?) I am sure that we must somehow be related. I recently got in touch with a man from Florida who is related to the Coltrain family and he is mailing an info package to me this week on the Coltrain's of Martin Co. If you will give me some names to check on, I will let you know if I come across them. Coltrain's were abundant in Martin Co. and I'm sure they were all related.

The Coltrain family has always been associated with Martin County. Who are the Coltrain brothers, John and William, born about 1810. They are shown in Forsyth County, NC later on. How are they related to the Martin County family?

Earlier I saw that James and William were living with their grandfather, because their parents were killed. I can't remember how though. Don't quote me on that because I may not have it right. sorry
