Hi Everyone!

I've traced part of my family back to the mid 1800s in Lincoln, North Carolina. I'm looking for more information on my great great great grandfather, Dock Rudisill, a black man, born in 1855.

I've found information on a group of Rudisills who came from Germany in the 1700s and settled in Lincoln. I'm looking for any documentation of their slaves, as I'm guessing Dock, or perhaps his father, was a slave.

Thanks!

Hello:
not sure if we share the same relatives but I wanted to give it a shot. My GG grandfather's name was Charlie Rudisill born on or about 1885 BUT he was white. My grandmother's mother (courtney, Chorley Bess) was either black or mulano. Charlie married or lived with a black woman named Mattie. They had two children. Anyway, I hope we can helpe each other. hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks.

Hi! Is this the Charlie you mention?

http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=1930usfedcen&a...

On here it says he's black, so it may be the wrong one. I have a relative named "Minnie," supposedly born abt 1861 in South Carolina though. She's in this census along with Charlie and Mattie. Her last name was supposedly Hendrick.

It seems most of my Rudisill family stayed in Lincoln, NC for a few generations. Do you know if Charlie was from there?

Thank you for responding. :)

Yes, my grandmother(Essie L. Cunningham. Madien names: Bess and Rudisill she went by both don't know why) lived in the North Brook, cherryville, lincoln area.

Charlie also lived in the lincolton area. I heard he was pretty popular with the ladies too...or as my mother call's "Sporty". Lol! He and Mattie had two son's I think. One was named Percy Rudisill.
My grandmother was raised by her grandparents: William P. (France) Bess and Sallie Bess.

My mother told me that Charlie Bess was white but Mattie was black. I'm not sure if the black charlie is him or not.
