I have a small picture of "Arch Ratliff", if anyone interested in having it, would be glad to send to you. I found it in an antique shop in Georgetown several years ago.
Written on the back is the name and "made about 1880", although if this Arch is the Archie, age 12, son of Gilford, on the 1880 census, the picture was probably made closer to 1890 -- the young man appears to be in his early twenties.

Linda - I was just checking to see if you still have the photo of "Arch" (Archellius) Ratliff of Williamson County, Texas. I have Ratliff family members who live out of state that are related to this particular Ratliff family member. Please advise. Thanks!

After searching Williamson Co, I searched the message board and decided to give this part a try. Two nights ago, after 45 years of searching, I finally found my dad and his side of the family. He passed away in 1985 and his mother, Minnie Azilee Ratliff, passed away in 1975-1976. She was buried in Liberty Hill, Tx from what one of my uncles told me and is a direct descendant from Sam Houston. Does anyone out there have any details on this subject? I can be e-mailed at charlie1@intertex.net.

Charlie - Congrats on your success in finding the information on your dad's family in Williamson County and now knowing that his mother was named Minnie Azilee Ratliff. If you haven't already, you should check in the courthouse and see if you can locate death certificate for her as that may give you the name of her parents, etc. etc. Also check the newspaper office in Liberty Hill and see if they have an obit for her. My Ratliff's came to Williamson County from Crawford County, Arkansas. My great great grandmother was named Sarah Jane Marrs (she married William Perry Ratliff) and from the information I have, the Marrs family has some relation to Sam Houston. I have Ratliff family members who are buried in Florence as well as in a Ratliff family cemetery which is on private property about 5 miles south of Florence on Highway 195. Hope you can locate more concrete information on your Ratliff family and if you think I can be of further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me. Good Luck on your Search.

I do know her dad's name. His name is Jefferson D (Davis maybe) Ratliff. Her mother was only identified as Mrs J. D. Ratliff in my baby book. Thanks for the info though.
