I have Jacob Marion Glance as the son of John Hoffman Glance and Mahala Wells. John Hoffman Glance was son
of Charles Frederick Glance and Catherine "Caty" Cross.
Brothers and sisters of Jacob Marion were Jackson Wiley,
Marry Ann, James H.,Eliza, John Sevier, Em, Thomas,
Hunter Alexander,Charles, Jesse Parker.
At least one other relation of Jacob Marion Glance went to
Texas after the Civil War and that was Hannah Rogers
married to Jacob Glance both born around 1813. This
Jacob was a brother to Barbara Glance who married Malachai
Reeves (my direct line) and son of Charles Frederick Glance
and Catherine Cross (in other words, Uncle to the Jacob
Marion in your inquiry). I have no information at this time as
to dates, spouse, etc for him. Would love to see if you have
info on Hannah Rogers-she was the sister of my John Rogers
who married Elizabeth Reeves, daughter of Malachai and
Barbara Glance Reeves. I have dead-ended here-cannot find
out for sure who the parents of Hannah and John Rogers were.
Thank You,
Judy

I have a record of Jacob Glantz and of an Anton Glantz in Tryon Co. (later LIncoln Co.) NC around 1770 and a Charles Fredrick Glantz is among them Anton Glantz married Catherine Hoffman - all from Germany.

If you are interested email me at: dotwhite@comcast.net and I will forward what I have. I am descended from Hieronymus Glantz arrived in PA 1732 (the English captain recorded Jeremy Glance), went to VA and his son, John Michael Glantz moved to Meckenburg Co., NC in the middle 1750's. The name in NC became Clontz through our line.

Surnames: Glance, Glantz
My line starts at Anton Glantz who arrived on 17 Sep 1771 in Philadelphia on the ship Minerva. I have run across the Heironymus line several times and tried for a couple of years to connect the two. I think they may be connected but will probably never know unless can get back into Germany. Am looking desperatly for the Jacob Marion Glance line, his family just disappears, his is the last line I need before starting on a family book.

I am descended from Hieronymus Glantz. I have tried for many years to find his home residence in a German speaking area of Europe unsuccessfully. I do have information on Anton Glantz I have picked up in bits and pieces. Hieronymus 29 arrived in Philadelphia Sept. 23, 1732 and Anton Glantz and Catherine Hoffman arrived in 1771/2, a spread of some 40 years. It seems that Anton was a new bridegroom when he brought Catherine Hoffman to Tryon County, NC.

1771 Jacob Clantz naturalized in MD

Jacob Clance bought 226 acres of land on May 20, 1772 in Tryon Co., NC. It seems this branch of the Glantz/Clontz family was closely connected to the Hoffman family back in Germany.

If you wish to compare and share information please email me
dotwhite@comcast.net and we can go into this in-depth
