Dear Kaspar family

I am researching two Frank Kaspars that were famous clarinet mouthpiece makers. Frank L was born in or near Pilsen, Bohemia in 1888
and emigrated to Chicago in 1904.

The other Frank was, I believe, born in 1902.
He was a cousin to Frank L. This Frank died in 1989 in Cicero Ill.

Any information on either of these venerated men would be greatly appreciated

My grandfather was the brother of Frank Kaspar from Cicero,IL..... My dad, changed the spelling Kaspar to Kasper as a young man.....I am aware of my great uncle's contribution to the mfg of mouthpieces.....my dad played clarinet as did my grandfather, who died in 1948...he played in a symphony in California..... I didn't know much about Frank other than he also lived in Michigan and somehow was connected to the university there....twice in my life, perfect strangers have asked me if I was related to Frank Kaspar....both of these fellows were middle-aged clarinetists, and spoke highly of the mouthpieces produced by Kaspar....just now trying to do some research on this relative. Respectfully, Wayne Kasper

My husband is Wayne Kasper too!

I just stumbled upon this board and will have to come back and read more. My husband's family is of Polish descent. Their original name was Kasprczk (pronounced Kaw-sp-shik but I am not sure of how to spell it). It was changed after WW1 by my husband's great grandfather.

Hi Wayne, My grandfather was Frank Kaspar of Cicero and the cousin of Frank Kaspar who retired and went on to Michigan. What was your grandfathers name? Why did your grandfather change his name. Laurie (Kaspar) Borawski
