Ordering copies of records and microfilms

Hi,

I use familysearch.org a lot but I have never ordered a microfilm or a copy of a record...partly because I have not been able to find good instructions on how to do either. So, how do I know if I can order a copy of a record? I seem to remember reading somewhere that you can't do this for all records. How much would that cost? And how do I order a microfilm? Are there restrictions on what microfilms can be ordered?

I am interested in a couple different records. If possible I'd like to get copies of some Norwegian records that they have posted online. I'd also like to borrow the microfilm of some Caddo Parish, Louisiana records (which do not appear online but do appear in the Family History Library Catalog.

Thanks for your help!

You can order copies through your local LDS centre.

But those are rentals aren't they or can one purchase them as well?

Do you know about CD's I'm interested in # 34 with a lot of Doherty/ODonnells on it in MA. Can you tell me if this is rental or purchase material? and if so how much in each case

Thank you

https://www.familysearch.org/#form=catalog

enter the city to see if it is available.

It costs 6 dollars to order the film and you have 40 days after it arrives at your local Family History Center to look at it.
The center which I use, allows me to print a page or save it
to a memory stick.
For 12 more dollars, that film can be stored at the location indefinitely.
I check first to see if someone else may have already ordered the same item.

Is it possible to borrow books? Sorry to ask so many questions...I'm interested in the Shreveport, LA vital records and I only see them listed as books, not microfilm.
