I am looking for information on my family (great aunts, uncles, cousins, great-grandparents):
the Garveys from Dunquin and the Carneys (i believe it is o'cearna and fili cearna) from the Great Blasket. I do not have much information on them except that they moved to Springfield Massachusetts in the late 20s or sometime in the 30s.

There is a whole section of the Blasket Island Heritage Center in Dunquin devoted to the Carney/Kearney family that moved to the Hungry Hill section of Springfield if you ever get the chance to visit there.
The people who moved to Springfield who may be able to help you are Maurice Kearney, 105 Miller St Spfld Ma 01104, and Mike Carney, 174 Middle St Springfield Ma 01104 as well as Eileen( Kearney) Cahillane, 922 Carew St Spfld Ma 01104
Good Luck

When I was a young lad I knew Mike Carney in Spfld. I used to visit everyso often with my father Jack Manning from Dingle. Co Kerry. He died in 1966, and I have his death notice. We also visited Jack Fenton Bob Knightly, Mossie Cahill, and Mikey Manning on Jenks St. Also John Adams on State st , and the Springfield Theatrical Club, And Tara Hall on Liberty ST. Also the J B Oreilly club.

The Manning's from Coumeenole are my people. I have made a couple of trips back to the Dingle Peninsula and had great help from friends at the Blasket Centre and family still there who have stories a plenty!

My mom's grandfather was Thomas Manning. He moved from Coumeenole to Springfield around 1920 and worked at Fisk. My mom was born there in Springfield but left before she was ten years old. Never really knew any of our history until a few years ago.
