Lula Tittle was my great grandmother. She passed away in 1959. She is buried at Moscow Plains Cemetery in Moscow, Michigan. However I cannot find a death certificate, and obiturary or even a funeral program for her. I also cannot find her on the Social Security Death Index. She was poor and was a farmer's wife her whole life so she had to pass away in one of the surrounding counties - but I cannot get a paper trail on her. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have already tried the library and the local newspaper.

You might contact the cemetery sexton, listed at the bottom of this page - there is only a snail mail address. Somtimes their records have further information.

Also, you will very very rarely find people in the social security death index who died prior to the early 1960's. The ones I have found were in Jail or some kind of institution.

Have you been to the Hillsdale County Court House? Are you sure her first name wasnt a nickname? Who was her husband?

Yes, I have been to the courthouse in Hillsdale, they don't have anything on her death. Yes, Lula was her real name not a nickname - although I have seen it spelled several ways.

I grew up in the extreme southern part of Hillsdale Co., Moscow is in the extreme north. Did you try Jackson Co.? If she happened to be in a hospital, she would most likely go to Jackson- not only because of location, but the hospital would be more major.

Yes, I tried the court house in Jackson and I also tried the Jackson Library too. I keep hitting a dead end. She isn't listed in the social security death index either. I'll just keep looking.
