Hello!
I'm looking for any information on John McMillen born 1736 in Lock Arkaig, Argyll, Scotland. He died July 17, 1812 in Salem, Washington, New York.
John married Mary Arnott.
Mary Arnott was born about 1738 in Scotland.
Thank you very much.

None of your McMillen names are familiar to me, but I wondered if you know of a possible connection between our two families.

My earliest known McMillen was HUGH McMILLEN, who came to the U.S. approx. 1775, probably from Loch Eil, Scotland. He settled near Stony Creek, Warren County, NY, and died approx. 1822. His wife was CHRISTIANA CAMERON McMILLEN, who died before 1820.

They had ten children. I have some info on nine of them. Son Hugh's wife LYDIA SOUTHWICK McMILLEN, died at the home of a son, GEORGE McMILLEN, in 1872 in East Iowa Falls, IA.

While I don't recognize any of the names in your family, there seem to be similar aspects. I believe, though, that my McMillens were Loyalists, and would not have joined the Revolutionary forces.
