Am seeking information about Richard Peter COOKE (b. 1842, d. 33-6-1918)), who lived in Ingleside near Louisburg, and his wife Margaret Mary HAYES (b.1-26-1849, d. 11-19-1923). I have very little information about them. He apparently served in the Confederate Army He was the son of Thomas Blacknall COOKE and Virginia FOSTER and was 1 of 7 children. Her parents were John J. HAYES (b. 3-31-1821, d. 4-9-1872) who m. 12-22-1847 Arabella MACON (d. 1-29-1893). Are these names familiar to anyone? I want to find out if Maragret Mary HAYES had siblings. I also have a handwritten will signed by Mary M. Hayes and dated 2-25-1856. I don't know where she fits in. It was witnessed by Joseph H (?) HAYES and mentions 3 sons, Simon G, John I., and Hugh S. HAYES. Simon and John were married at the time of the will. Peter COOKE and Margaret HAYES had a daughter Elba Lura COOKE (b.1876, d. 1956) who married James Claude TUCKER (b. 1875, d. 1832) in Louisburg.
These are my grandparents. Claude Tucker's parents were John Buxton TUCKER and Mary ALice HARRIS. Any help most appreciated.

R. Peter Cooke is buried about a mile from my home, the Peter Foster homeplace. I'm the grandson of Peter S. Foster. Richard Peter is buried at Trinity church. He died 3/5/1918. His wife Mary Margeret Hayes is also buried at the church, here in Franklin County. I believe Richard had 7 siblings. You mention Elba as their child, there were several other children as well, if you need there names and info, I'll be glad to pass it along. Do the names Werter M. Hayes, Charles Macon or Pattie P. Turner ring a bell with you? They are connected somehow. Let me know If you can help. Thanks.

Virginia Foster, who m. Thomas Blacknall Cook was the dau. of Peter Foster of Franklin Co. NC, by what I believe was his first marriage to ??? Virginia's brother was Augustus James Foster and her sister was Mary Ann Foster, who m. Edward T. Fowlkes. Augustus was co-executor of Peter's will, along with (I believe) his 2nd wife, Elizabeth H.(?) I found an abstract of Peter's will and it appears he left half his estate to his 1st set of children (Augustus, Virginia, Mary) and half to his 2nd family (wife: Elizabeth H., children: Peter Stapleton, William Beverly, Louisa Jane, Lucy Elizabeth, & Omega Harden Foster, my g-gfather. Others mentioned include kinswoman Frances Gressel, g-dau. Elizabeth Keeble Fowlkes, and about 30 slaves. I also happened across the will of a Robert Debnam, who was some relation by marriage, perhaps son-in-law? peter S. Foster was co-exec. of Mr. Debnam's will, along with B.Y.Debnam. Surnames mentioned in that will include Cook, Fowlkes, Foster, Debnam, Lawrence, Blacknall, Yarbrough, Yarboro, Massenburg, & Tucker. Believe these people were related in some fashion, or at least inter-related. Anyway, I'm still trying to sort it all out. Was curious about R. Peter. Any info would be appreciated. I'll post whatever I learn. Good Luck! William (Bill) P.S. Appears all the folks were from Franklin Co. or close by.

Danielle, Thanks for your response. Does the name N. B. Massenburg mean anything to you? You mentioned Badger. Maybe the Badger is part of N. B. I do not recognize the name Badger. We are talking about N.B. Massenber being alive between 1820-1860 approx. He was the guardian of William Foster, a minor. Supposedly the Massenburgs were neighbors to the Debnams, Cooks, Yarboros, John Tucker and others. Just wandering what you might know. Thanks. Bill
