Christian Ruegsegger(1778-1856) John Resecker (1821- 1912), his son Christian Resecker (1863-1951). Christian Resecker had a son that he named John Resecker (1915-1992) and this is my grandfather. I am interested in finding any information on other family members. I know the spelling of the name has changed between the family members. So I am interested in finding who is out there with the same family line. Thanks.

Do you know Christian Ruegsegger's ancestry? Did he have siblings? When did his family immigrate? In which state(s) did he and his descendants live? My ancestry comes through Peter Ruegsegger/Ricksecker who immigrated in 1742 to Pennsylvania. One of Peter's sons was a Christian. A Christian shows up in Ohio who might be the father of or related to your Christian Ruegsegger. I am glad to share my information.

Hi Leeann
My name is Bill Nielsen my great grandmother was Ida Ruegsegger she was born 4 Feb 1876 in Switzerland township, Monroe County Ohio.
Her parents were John Ruegsegger(1847) (son of Peter Ruegsegger 13 Aug 1809- Nov. 1892) and Laura Hannah Powell), and Lena Hubaker(1848-1892). Peter was born in Switzerland (per the 1870 census)
Peter's parents were Christian Ruegsegger, (1778-1856) born in Rothenbach, Bern Switzerland and Barbara Moses (1780-1854)born in Bern Canton, Switzerland.
Christian's parents were Johannes Ruegsegger (1778-1856) and Barbara Beutler (1755-1834)
I show a John born to Christian and Barbara Ruegsegger but don't know his birth date, I show that they had 8 children, Frederich, Barbara, Rose, Samuel, Christian, Levi, John, and( my side of family) Peter born 1809.

The information I have I received several years ago as a young girl. I have Christian Ruegsegger and Barbara Moses had eight children Christian, Peter, Samuel, Barbara, John, Levi, Frederick, and Rose. The information that I have on there son Peter born Aug. 13, 1809 on Lake Ruegsegger, Switzerland, is that he was 8 years old when he came to America in 1818 with his family and an uncle named Nicholas. I have that Christian and his family settled in Monroe County Ohio. Now if this is the corrct family line, I have that Peter married a Miss Laura Hannah Powell she was born near Powhatan Point Ohio May 10, 1815. And they settled in Monroe County Ohio. They had 11 children. Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Samuel, Henry, Levi, William, John, Louisa, Rachel, Emily, and Peter born on November 6, 1860 died January 6, 1906. The only information I have on Nicholas is that he and his family went to a German-Swiss settlement in Tuscarawa County Ohio. It seems that the name Christian, Peter, and John were a very popular name in the family. Now as I said this is all the information that I have at this time. But I am still looking into making sure all this information is correct. And hoping to find more. I hope this somewhat helps.

SORRY!! When I first put in my post I left out a name. It should read....Christian Ruegsegger Sr.(1778-1856) Christian Ruegsegger Jr. ((I believe was changed to Reaksecker)(1804 -1854)) John Resecker (1821- 1912), his son Christian Resecker (1863-1951). Christian Resecker had a son that he named John Resecker (1915-1992) and this is my grandfather. I am interested in finding any information on other family members. I know the spelling of the name has changed between the family members. So I am interested in finding who is out there with the same family line. Thanks.
Also can anyone confirm if this is correct::
Christian Ruegsegger Sr. married Barbara Moses
Christian Ruegsegger Jr.(Reaksecker) married Elizabeth Conkleman ( she remarried after he died I believe??)
John Resecker married Margaret Rutter
Christian Resecker married Mae Hoskinson

I've never been on the ancestry site before but was going through my hope chest and found a family book passed down to me, of handwriting of a decendant who on Feb. 9, 1958, wrote up 3 pages of family history that I'm doing my best to decipher: Ruegseggar or Ruegsegger to the English spelling(they spell it)Reaksecker.
It says,
"Christian Rueseggar was born in Canton Berne, Switzerland in 1778 as was his wife Barbara (Mosey) Ruegseggar, she was born in 1780. This couple with their family and his brother Solomon and his family crossed France by foot using a wheelbarrow to carry their goods and small children. It took two months to cross the ocean, landing in Baltimore, Maryland, from there they proceeded on to Ohio.
They left a sister in Switzerland to inherit the estate. Chris and Barbara were parents to 8 children; Christian Jr., John, Peter, Samuel, Levi, Fredrick, Barbara and Rose Case...."
There are three more pages here of history to go with what I've entered above. I also have some pictures and one is a picture of a Rueseggar/or Ruesegger woman who married a Neff.
I am very new at this but was just going through an old chest today and was curious of where I've come from.

Our branch of the Ruegsegger family ended up being spelled "Resseger". My great-grandmother and her brother, Ethel and Elmer Resseger, were descended from Christian Ruegsegger. Not sure when the change of spelling occurred. This branch has lived in Canada (specifically Alberta) for several generations, although I now live in British Columbia.

Christian Ruegsegger is my great, great, great grandfather. The dates for him that I have are 1779-1854, very close. If this is the same person, I have his wife as Barbara Moser, 1781-1854. I believe their son Frederick (John 1821-1912 brother?) changed the spelling to Reaksecker. I am related through Frederick Reaksecker(1816-1884 and his daughter Emily Reaksecker(1844-1913) who was my great grandmother.Frederick and Christena moved to Missouri. Let me know if this information is helpful. I don't have any info before Christian Ruegsegger and am interested in that and connecting with other relatives. Thanks!
