I am looking for information on Samuel Hunt. b. 1839 Fayette County, Kentucky, died April 27, 1873 Cedar Bayou, Harris County, Texas.
In the 1860 Martin County, Indiana Census he is listed
Martha 46 F. Va.
John 19 M. Ky
Sam 21 M. Ky
Jesse WGT 8 In (Does anyone know what WGT means).
In the 1870 Daviess County, Indiana Census
he is listed as Samuel Hunt 31
Sarah Hunt 21
He was married to Sallie Jane Kitterman on August 13, 1868 in Gibson County, Indiana.
He enrolled in the Co. E, 58th Reg. Indiana Volunteers on October 13, 1861 in Dover Hill, Indiana
I would love to find his parents name. I know his mother's name is Martha by census and pension papers but I cannot find his fathers name or his mother's maiden name. Can any one help me. Thanks in advance.

Phyllis I am probably going to give you more question then answers.

I didn't find any marriage for male surname of Hunt and female first name of Martha in Indiana. This doesn't mean they didn't marry in Indiana just mean it not documented here yet.

Far as Virginia marriages.
MEREDITH HUNT MARTHA W. NEAL 23 July 1828 Charlotte
WILLIAM P. HUNT MARTHA ANN BEACH 12 November 1831 Prince Edward

Kentucky Marriages to 1850
Eaton, Martha Hunt, Nicholas 16 Nov 1822 Kentucky
Franklin County

Ohio Marriage had no marriage between Hunt and a Martha early enough to matter.

When I took a broad look at Census for Hunts in Martin County, Indiana. I found two men born in Kentucky as well. Dempsy and Wilson

Martha Hunt 46 1813 Virginia Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Female
John Hunt 19 1840 Kentucky Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Male
saml Hunt 21 1838 Kentucky Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Male
Jesse W G P Hunt 8 1851 Indiana Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Male
********************
Wilson Hunt 24 1835 Kentucky Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Male
Mary A Hunt 21 1838 Indiana Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Female
******************
Dempsey Hunt 27 1832 Kentucky Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Male
Elizabeth Hunt 25 1834 Indiana Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Female
Marshall H Hunt 4 1855 Indiana Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Male
Susan A Hunt 1 1858 Indiana Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Female

If I guess right cause they are like 5 and 6 pages from Martha these could be her sons. I would guess Martha marriage about 1832.

There is also another group of Hunt in the county. I can't say related but it could be Martha husband brother extention. He to yound t ofall in the father and mother age range. That only if they are related.

nathl n Hunt 60 1799 Ohio Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Male
Nam A Hunt 59 1800 Indiana Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Female
bathia Hunt 27 1832 Indiana Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Female
Elizabeth Hunt 25 1834 Indiana Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Female
madgarar Hunt 22 1837 Indiana Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Female
Racheal Hunt 18 1841 Indiana Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Female
William Hunt 17 1842 Indiana Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Male
norinda Hunt 15 1844 Indiana Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Female
Absalom Hunt 32 1827 Indiana Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Male
America Hunt 21 1838 Indiana Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Female
nathl r Hunt 1 1858 Indiana Rutherford, Martin, Indiana Male

Last thing take any speculation I made with grain of salt I am not a professional genealogist. Just another person that searching as well. (grin)

Thanks Allen for the reply. Yes, it does bring up some more questions. I really don't know who his father is or where else I can look to find it.
I feel like he is related to Wilson Hunt that married Martha Hull as they came from Virginia, to Fleming County, Kentucky, then to Martin County, Indiana and were also in
Cedar Bayou, Texas. If not his parents, the possibly a uncle or other relative. But I have found nothing to verify this nor connect in any way.
Thanks again for the help. Maybe we can help each other with our LOST Hunt relatives.

Hi

Ok searching some more. From the 1830 Census there is a Josiah Hunt.

Bethiah would be the wife. She was living in 1850 at age of 78.

There is two son and 3 daughter in household. The ages doesn't match for Nathan. Then again they had a hard time tracking ages from 1830 to 1860s wasn't important.

There approx. ten year different in ages on the boys. Looking at Nathan age and Martha age. It would match.

Josiah was only Hunt family in Martin County 1830.

Trying to find out if anyone created a tree on Josiah Hunt not having any luck.
