Looking for any information on John Richard Mortz that was killed in a Mobil refinery explosion about August 1928.
This explosion was to have happened around Lawrenceville, IL.
(Lawrence County)IL.
Does any one have any newspaper clippings or any information on this explosion?
He was supposed to have died in a Vincennes Indiana Hospital
(Knox County) after this explosion.

Hi Connie.

My Great Uncle John (Jack) Crawford lost both his legs in an explosion. He was living in Cornwall at the time (1920-1940s). Would this possibly be the same explosion as yours......do you have any references for this explosion?

Thanks Chris

I have an article from a Lawrence Co History that is a re-print of the County News article from 8/1/1928 concerning the explosion at the Indian Refinery (later called Texaco Refinery - long before Mobil and Texaco merged). It's one type-written page and doesn't say much but I might be able to find more.
