Looks like we may have something. I'm checking with my father, too... Can't be too many Bohemian Jelinek's from Cleveland...

HI, This may not be any help to you, but I worked in a mens store in Cleveland in the 1960's called "Jelineks Mens Wear". The owner was Emil Jelinek. I do not know his wifes name, but he had one daughter, Miriam Francis (nee Jelinek). Coincidently, his manager , who was somehow realted to him, was Mr. Edward Skoch.

Hi Joe, You've got the right family -- Emil Jelinek was my grandfather Edwin Skoch's brother-in-law (I believe it was his sister Emma's husband, Emil -- I may be incorrect in regard to which of his sisters since I'm not looking at my family tree right now). My grandfather, Edwin Skoch, WAS the manager at Jelinek's men's clothing store (I actually have one of the wooden hangers with the store name on it). My father (also Edwin Skoch) worked at the store as a teen, as did my grandmother, Helen, on occasion.

Joe, I didn't read your post closely enough first time through -- I'm sorry! My father worked in the store in the 50s and early 60s -- I'm going to have to send your name over to him also. Maybe you remember him? I'm sure they called him "Eddie" back then. Small world!!! Wendy

Hi Wendy, I am not sure which Eddie is which. We all called hin "Mr. Skoch"..he was more or less in charge. Also, I think his name was Edwin. A short stocky man with glasses and very professional. Mr. Jelineks name was Emil. I dated his grandaughter Patricia Francis in HS in the late '60s. Her mom was his daughter....Miriam Francis nee Jelinek. From what I can gather....Mr Jelinek or some relation, stayed with a Skoch in Cleveland prior to being naturalized. It is in the records for Cuyahoga county you can find easily on the computer. Sincerely, Joe

Also, Pattys oldedr brother was named 'Charles Jelinek Francis", and her younger brother was named "Emil Francis". I originally ran across your posting by TOTAL accident. It IS a small world!..Joe

Hi Joe, I am a bit surprised that you remember so much after all this time. My mother's name is Marion Jane Jelinek Francis (Emil and Laura Jelinek were her parents). Wendy is the oldest granddaughter (as I recall) of my Granduncle Edwin (partner of Emil Jelinek in the store).

My son, actually, ran across this "discussion" and told me about it today... I would be happy to help find any information needed.

Best Regards, Pat
