My name is Kevin Ladson and Im 45 years old. My father's name is Kenneth Ladson, he believes that he has relatives in SC. His father name he believes was also Kenneth. He also believes that his father was from Sc and moved to New York in the early 1900's. My father never knew who his father was and really has no infomation on him. We do believe though that he has twin cousin's in SC. If you have any information please reply.

Hello All,

Had a grandfather James (skip) T Ladson who passed away 9/25/00. Born 4/4/1915 in Dillon County South Carolina. Brothers Albert, McKinley, Rufus, and sister Agnes...
If any of these are familiar please feel free to update this site. I will be checking... (who knows... we might be related).

Kevin there was a Rufus Ladson from Green Pond, SC that is now deceased but you can pull the information up on this site. I am not sure how I am related to him but my father was Abraham Ladson Sr. and used to work with Rufus Ladson in Savannah at one time, I think at the shipyard I don't remember exactly. Hope this helps. I also have a nephew named Keven L. Ladson, I thought that's who you were.

I am the grandson of Pedro Ladson who was born and raised in Sumpter, SC. I live in NEW YORK. We are definetly probably related. Please contact me as soon as possible so we can put some pieces together. I am in contact with MANY Ladson relatives and looking for more. Any Ladson from Sumpter is probably related to us.

I have been researching the Ladson family along with others in S.C. Henry Ladson b. 1840 mar. Louise (Pepper) b. 1844 and lived in Pendleton S.C., raised 13 children of African/Americen descent. They were: John Henry, Corrie (my greatgrandmother),Harriet, Lenah, Ola, Drayton, Clinton, Emmanuel, Frank, Ella, & Julia & Twins who died after one day of life. The other family names are: Mays/Mayes/Sherman/Higdon/Rosemond. We are all interrelated. The Yarn family hosted the family reunion in Virginia Beach in 2004. I am looking for background on Henry Ladson. Thanks. email: Pianopmt@sbcglobal.net

Dear Patricia, I don't know if this might give you a lead or not. Rev George Whitield Ladson, son of Wm & Cynthia (Wingate) Ladson, was the minister for an African American community at Columbia, SC from 1861 until his death on 4 July 1864. The members of his congregation bore all of the expenses for his funeral, buying a lot in Elmwood cemetery; and erected a monument. Ladson Chapel was also named by this congregation as a token of their esteem. I have seen references that some members of this congregation took Ladson as their family name. I can give you more info on Rev Geo, but I'm afraid that I haven't yet researched the the families of the congregation.

Thanks for sharing that information. I believe both were slaves before the Civil War in S.C. My ggreatgrandparents: Henry Ladson m. Louise (Pepper). They had 13 children known & resided in Pendleton S.C. and from that union I have a lot of family members: My greatgrandparents: Corrie (Ladson) m. John W. Higdon. My grandparents: Elvira (Higdon) m. Van Mays. My parents: Nathaniel Mays m. Mattie (Lambert) and then there's me.
When & where was Rev. Ladson born and did he or family own slaves? Could my Henry Ladson born approx. 1840 come from him?
