James Henry McCurry was born July 2, 1864 in McMinn County, TN. He married Della Marie Phillips November 1905. She gave birth to a son, Claude Carl McCurry on May 31, 1906. Claude in turn had a son named Claude William McCurry, "Bill" was my first husband and father to our two sons. James Henry McCurry was initially married to Elizabeth Frances Isham. They had two children. One was Arlee Lefert McCurry. Story goes that after Arlee converted to Catholicism, he wanted to be referred to as "Pat". James Henry McCurry died September 6, 1942 in Sacramento, California and is buried in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Does it sound like we have the same James Henry McCurry? I would like information on this Springfield, MO family.
I am one of James Henry McCurry's granddaughters and daughter of James Everett McCurry; niece of Claud Carl McCurry.
If you will e-mail me and let me know what you would like to know, I will try to send you the information.
John A. McCurry married Susan Ann Beasley in 1862. They had one son, James Henry McCurry born July 2, 1862.
James Henry McCurry married Elizabeth Frances Isham in 1883. They had two children: Arlee Lefert McCurry and another child.
James Henry McCurry's second wife was Della Marie Phillips whom he married November 1905. Her first child was Claude Carl McCurry followed by: Eugene A., James E., Catherine, Frank E., Sue, Mina, Frank (too many Franks?...birthdates?)
Looks like the same McCurry family!
Susan was the daughter of John J. and Rebecca Salmon Beasley. In the 1880 Cedar county Missouri census she and her son, John McCurry, were living with her uncle, John B. Salmon and his family.

Yes, I have a copy of Susan Ann Beasley's Obituary from March 1934. It's not as clear as I would have liked but it was sent to me by my cousin and more than I had before! It states she was born in Landen, TN Oct. 24, 1844. It says she was married to John McCurry in 1862 and they had one son, J.H.McCurry. John was killed in 1864 in the "Battle of Duck Creek",TN. He had served with Co. K, 1st Tennessee Cavalry. After the 1870 Census showing she and her son James were living with Rebecca Beasley, Susan moved to Missouri in 1871. The Obituary says in 1905 she married Andrew Tolbert, who died in 1926. I have National Archive Records regarding Andrew and Susan's Petition for Pension Benefits. Andrew had also served in the war with Co.K, 5th Regt.,Ohio Vol. Calvary. It said Andrew was dropped from the Pension Oct.24, 1921 due to his death on Sept. 15, 1921.
Thank you so much for the information about where she and her son were in 1880! Also, for her mother's maiden surname and father's name. This a huge help!
I don't always have the opportunity to do much research lately and this has definitely given me the research bug once again!
