I have a George H. Piel's s.s.application and it lists his parents as Ferdinand Piel and Minnie Kremme or Kremnie? I sent off hoping for it to be my George Piel but when it arrived it had the wrong middle name. I was told my George was a Clarence, this one is a Herman. If anyone knows of family for this Ferdinand Piel please let me know. I may have been given the wrong info. and this George Herman Piel is mine after all. This George H. Piel was born in New Haven, Mo. and at the time he filled out application he lived in Kirkwood, Mo.My George was from around the St.Louis area but don't know where yet. He is also born about the time my George would have been born. June 12, 1896,this is George H. birth date.
Thanks for any help, Faith

I have an Anna Maria Piel b.1844 in Germany and d. 1917 in St. Louis. She is buried in the St. Peters Cemetery in St.Louis. Unfortunately I know little more of my Piels.
Her mothers name was Catherine and she was married to John Henry Borgelt. Could there be a connection?

I'm sorry I couldn't help. I don't know much about my Piel family either. This is all I have :
George C.? Piel bn.abt. 1918
his father I was told may have been George C. Piel also. That George Sr. had about 9 children, George Jr. and Ed. They lived in St.Louis or nearby. George Jr. is still living but is in a nursing home and no one will give me anymore info. not sure why. All of George Jr. children are living and will not respond to my questions. I am only guessing that George Sr. would have been born abt. 1898? I do not know George Sr. wife's name. Looking thru my things this is something I had forgotten, I was told that George Sr. and wife may have been from Dublin, Ireland and came down throught Canada. I don't know how true this is yet until I find him.
Sorry again for not been any help. Good luck in your search.

Nellie Hayden married George piel and they had ten children. (Florience (nee Martin), Rose( ne Donaldson), Edward, Adele (nee Eagan), Edwin JOhn, helene, George, Annette (nee King) and Frances (nee Brummel). I've just begun research this tree. Nellie was the sister of Rose hayden (nee Miller, Holzhausen) who was my grandmother.
the 1920 census shows a 22 year old George Piel living with Frederick Piel, age 18, and with a family who's last name is difficult to read (maybe Cerban?) first names were harry F., Christine H., and son George F.
George and Frederick arfe listed as brother in laws.

Gail,

One correction on children of Nellie Hayden and George Piel. They also had a daughter named Thelma. She was the youngest of their children.

Th George Piel you found on the census cannot be either George Piel that Faith is referring to. George C. Piel, Jr. was only 2 years old at the time and his father had to have been 30+ years old. George Piel, Jr. was one of the youngest siblings in the family.

I would like any information you might have on the family. I have very little but will share whatever I have. Do you know about your grandmother's father's death and or their mothers?

Bev

Unfortuantely my grandmother died before I was born and my dad (her son) died when I was four years old. There weren't any direct line descendents around for me to get much information. I am getting some good informaton from another Piel inlaw (several generations down from my grandmother and her sister.

She did tell me a family story regarding Elwyn JOhn (Jack) Piel that I need to check out and the George Clarence Piel family tree is on World Family Tree for veiwing. Send me an e-mail with your address and I'll send you the family tree. I do know that Rose Hayden Holzhausen died of a crebral hemorage, as did my father. High blood pressure is a family trait.
