I think that I'm searching for Peter Sleeper also. But This Peter married a Catherine and they moved to Iowa from the NH or VT area. Can't find where they are buried. Ellen Berg might be able to help you. Or Jan Johnston might be able to help you also. Ron Stutsman is another possible source. Let me know if I can be of further help. Connie Sleeper

Connie....I have Peter Sleeper, m. Catherine B. Wheelock, she was b. 22 Oct 1800, d. 2 Oct 1864 in Clinton Co., Ia. I found her grave but not Peter's. I have been unable to connect to the NH/VT Sleepers other than probable. Do you have the connection? Catherine Wheelock's mother was Molly Sanborn and I have both families and many allied families back to England.

Terry: as I am just starting out, I have already heard from about 3 people researching the Sleeper line. I would be interested in knowing where Catherine is buried, because I couldn't find her or Peter in any of the cemetary records that I have gone through. Ellen Berg has more info than I do. Jan Johnston might know more also. There is a Phyllis Jane Sleeper, who married Leonard Wynkoop of Wyoming, who just celebrated their 50th anniversary. My hubby, Mike says that they always called her aunt Jane, because his mother's name was Phyllis. Don't know why, or how, I came to have the original newspaper clipping. They live about 12 miles west of Maqouketa in Iowa. I am trying to get in touch with them now. I hope that the e- addy's for Ellen and Jan help. They've got more info tham me, and they've been helping me get started. Connie Sleeper

Connie, Catherine is buried about 1 mi West of old US 61 and about 3 mi S. of Maquoketa in an OLD country cemetary. I have been there many times and have a photo of her stone. The Sleepers and Gilletts had adjoining farms just south of there in Clinton County, IA. I believe they were land grants for service in the war of 1812. Sarah jane Sleeper m. 25 Dec 1851, Henry F. Gillett. She d. 1880 he D. 1912, in Woodbury Co., IA. (Sioux City area)

Actually, my name is now Kristin Handshaw. My father is Corydon Rollie Sleeper, son of Horace Sleeper (January 24, 1913-February 1976). Horace married Janet Armstrong (her mother was Irma Kendall Armstrong). I am looking for information on Rollie Sleeper, father of Horace. Rollie's wife, Mary, was murdered. I am trying to trace my roots again. Any info would be appreciated. Horace had a brother, Charles Sleeper. I think Rollie was born in Northern Vermont.

Hello we have a Charles Royal Sleeper in our family. His wife was named Irene and their children are Charles and Connie. Wonder if there is a connection.
