Please do not bother to post info from www.familysearch.com.
Information there is mostly unsourced.
There is an entry which lists Nathan's parents. Per usual, it's unsourced.

I am curious did you ever find the answer to this question? I am currently trying to answer this question myself. Nathan Crossman is my 3rd great-grandfather, thru his daughter Delina Rose Louise Crossman. I have up to this point in a family journal. Hope you can help answer this question for me or drop me a hint to what direction I should head. I was looking at other trees for a hint, but nothing matched up. Thanks! Shelley

If I found the right Nathan - there is a 75 year old Elizabeth Crossman (born in Mass) living with him in the 1850 census. Could be his mother?

Well, sure, but I have no particular reason to suspect that she is, do you?

I suspect she is a relative of Nathan. Could be his mother, or grandmother, or an aunt. I'd keep it in mind and see if it leads to any supporting evidence. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sorry if my reply implied anything more.

"I suspect she is a relative of Nathan"
agreed. and mother is certainly most likely

"Could be his mother, or grandmother, or an aunt".
or step-mother, enumerator error, misstranscription or a misprint;
or even elder maiden-sister, or widowed sister-in-law
(maybe others?)
Family relationships were not identified on federal censuses until 1880

Although I haven't found an answer to this question, there is some interesting data which might
provide a useful research path.

Here are the 1830 and 1840 Census results for Cro*S*Man for all of Essex County NY
(Essex County NY borders VT to the east)
1830 United States Federal Census results for Cro*S*Man.
Aaron Crossman Crown Point, New York 3 (total household members)
Albern Crossman[Abern Crossman] Crown Point, New York 5 (total household members)
Eliakem Crossman Moriah, New York 3 (total household members)
Elijah Crossman Crown Point,New York 7 (total household members)
Ira Crossman Crown Point,New York 4 (total household members)

1840 United States Federal Census
. Albun Cralman[Alburn Crossman] Crown Point,New York 8 (total household members)
Aaron Crockner[Aaron Crossman] Crown Point,New York 7 (total household members)
Ira Crosman Crown Point,New York 7 (total household members)
Seth Crosman Essex,New York 13 (total household members)
Eliskim Crossman Moriah,New York 8 (total household members)
John Crossman Crown Point,New York 12 (total household members)
John Crossman Crown Point,New York 8 (total household members)
I consider it useful to compile info on the Cros(s)man families in all of Essex County 1850 & onward)

An inspection of the individual records for 1830 & 1840 can see what the age ranges are for the
household members.

What strikes me in particular as a useful research path is
Elijah Crossman of 1830.

Back in 1996 a Tom Crossman posted the following ...

"[The Columbia County NY] historical society responded to my request with quite a number of pages of
info. I'll be adding some to the pages hopefully this weekend. Also, I'll be
emailing some of it directly to you all.
Here's the first installment

Also note the following ...

Database: New York Pensioners, 1835
County: Essex Co.
Name: Elijah Crossman
Rank: Sergeant
Annual Allowance: 96 00
Sums Received: 1526 36
Description of service: Massachusetts line
When placed on the pension roll: October 21, 1818
Commencement of pension: April 11, 1818
Age: 79

So, lets look at the Elijah Crossman entry
Sutton Mass VR have three marriages for an Elijah Crossman
Rebecca Marsh 22 May 1777
Ruth Thayer 16 Feb 1791
Elizabeth Hewitt 20 Feb 1794
You might want to investigate this Sutton Elijah as the 1830 Crown Point Elijah;
and consider the remaining men in the 1830, 1840 censuses as candidates to be children/grand-children of Elijah &
one or more of his three wives.

In this light you might reflect on the POSSIBLE relationship of Nathan/Elisabeth Crossman to Elijah/Elizabeth (Hewitt) Crossman
(Personally, I consider the Nathan born in 1808 (see 1850 census) to be a better candidate as an Elijah son
but that gets messier).

(Now let's see how soon the above clue suggestions become FACT in somebody's "Family Tree")
