I am researching Sarah Pomfret who married a John Herndon and I knew someone would be intrested in this line. I will print what I have.......I have nothing else on this family!.....
Willliam Pomfret of Dover born 1640, was early town elk. and Lieut. died 7 August. 1680. His d. (assuming daughter) Martha married William Dame; and another d. (daughter) m. Thomas Whitehouse. ("First Settlers of New England page 452 Vol.#3)
"New England Mgs. prior to 1700 page 592)
William Pomfret and 1/wf Hosanna ___? b. 1640, b. 1630? Dover NH. (:again assuming the 1640 is the birthdate of Wm.)
William Pomfret (--1680) (assuming death date) & Rose ___? (-living in 1675; aft 1640; Dover NH
On Rootsweb there are 229 entries for Dame and 106 for Dam so I am posting under Dame.
Dam, John (1610-1690) & 1/wf. --b. 1638 b. 1637? b. 1636/7
.................................& 2 wf Elizabeth (Pomfret(Pomphret) b. 1649; Dover NH.
Dam, John (1638-1704) & 1/wf. Sarah (Hall) ( --1663) ca 1660/2/ Dover NH
Same name again & date...& 2/wf Elizabeth Furber; 9 Nov 1664, Dover NH.
another..John Dam (1668-) & 1/wf Jane(Rowe; ca 1690?;Dover NH
Richard dame & ___? b. 1676 Ipswich.
Dam, William (1653-1718) & Martha (NUTE/POMFRET?) (-1718); ca 1680? b. 1682? Dover NH
If anyone sees a Sarah Pomfret/Pomphrett who possibly was the d/o John William Fermer Pomfret and Sarah Aylett. I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you Ann

I may be able to help you. I have relatives from Dover, NH and I have names of Pomphret and Pomfret, Sarah, Thomas, Samuel, Mary in my family. I am a descendant of the Dam and Dame family. Our family kept pretty good records and I also thought I remembered the name Nute. I remembered it because I know someone by that last name. Our Dams ended up in Northern Calif.

I have records regarding John Dam Dame Damme -born Cheshire, England, died Dover, NH. Married Elizabeth Pomfret. These records are from my uncle William H Dame done around 1975(?). It appears that most of our Dame's ended up in the south.
