I am looking to see if there is anyone out there that is researching the Holst family from O. Aker Norway. I am starting to look into any information that I can find for Svanhild Holst or any of her siblings and/or parents. I know she had a large family and I can't remember all of their names. If you happen to know anything about this Holst family, your input would be greatly appreciated. I know that Svanhild came from the Kristiania, Norway port in 1922 at the age of 14 and that is all I know. She is my great grandma and she is still living, but not able to communicate to this level. Thank You, Tammy

The manifest from Ellis Island tells us she came over on ship Stavangerfjord with her mother, both were headed for Christ Lee (son-in-law/brother-in law), 1714 Banks Avenue, Superior, Wis.
Her mother is: Hulda Holst F 52y M Norway, Scandinav. O. Aker, Norway, born in Fredrikstad (town in Østfold).
In Oslo in 1900 lived 3 women who fit this description, but none of them were married to a Holst. Maybe the name/age of Christ Lee's wife (Hulda's daughter) could give some new leads? Do you know the name of Svanhild's father?

327 persons in Oslo are using Holst as a surname or middle name today.

Hi- Thanks for your helpful information. Yes, I do know the name of Hulda's husband. Hans Larsen was Hulda's husband. My great grandmother is Svanhild Holst, (Sorenson now) which is the sister of Esther Lee, wife of of Christ Lee. I never knew Christ, but had met Esther long ago when I was a little girl. Never learned anything of the family other than they came from the "Old Country". I am very interested in finding roots of any kind in Norway. My mother and I want to plan a trip over there and see where they were from. Do you have any idea how to research the Larsen/Holst names left over in Oslo? Do you know how I would research their hometown before they came over to US? I know they lived on a farm. I have no idea where, if it was actually in Oslo or not. I would love to find out the address of where this farm was. I am sure there is nothing left of it, but just to see the area would be wonderful. I thank you for your time!
Tammy
