Looking for information on Cassidy family that, I believe, lived in Wolfe Co. probably in the late 1840's to the 1900's. John and Mary Watts Cassidy had the following children: Isabel, Bridget, John, Ann, Theresa, Dennis and James. Isabel (b. abt. 1835) married James Belser. Bridget (b. 2/14/1840) married John Lynaugh. John (b. 7/19/1850) married Ellen O'Brien. Ann (b. abt. 1851) and Theresa (b. abt. 1854) never married. Dennis (b. 1/1/1859) married Margaret Flannagan. Info on James is unknown. I think that Isabel and Bridget were born in Ireland prior to arrival in Canada. John and Dennis were born in Wolfstown.

The Cassidy families moved in Vermont in the late 1800's or early 1900's.

Any info that could be shared would be appreciated.

Surnames: Cassady, Cassidy - Ireland to Quebec to Vermont
I am also researching the Cassady/Cassidy family from Ireland to Canada, then to Vermont. My great-grandmother was Ada Cassady, born in Kingsey Falls, Quebec to Levi Leete Cassady and Mary Jane (Priest) Cassady. Levi was the son of John Cassady and Lucia Leete. It's my understanding that John was born in Canada, but I don't know who his father is, who evidentally came from Ireland to Canada. Levi and some of his siblings moved to Caledonia County, Vermont in the late 1800's.

I just obtained a Cassady Family Tree from an aunt, which has all of Levi Cassady's descendants through 1980. I am now trying to locate people in it for updates.

I have information about some of Levi's other siblings, but not much. Does it sound like we're looking for the same Cassady family?

I have found in my research that the spellings in vital records were interchanged between Cassady and Cassidy; however, the correct spelling of my family is Cassady.

I am a descendant of Ada's sister, Alice Margery Cassidy. Alice married James Achilles. I have gathered quite a bit of information on the Cassady/Cassidy family from Kingsey Falls but I am still searching for their Irish origins. John was born in Ireland according to the 1881 Canadian Census. My mother and I were in Kingsey Falls a couple of years ago and took pictures of quite a few of the Casady/Cassady/Cassidy stones in a cemetery just outside of the town. I would be happy to share the information I have gathered. I am still looking for any additional information I can find. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your response! I would be happy to exchange information. Also, I have made a contact in Danville, PQ (near Kingsey Falls) who is a descendant of Archibald Cassady. He has done a lot of research, but hasn't linked them together as yet. However, given the fact that John and Archibald were from Kingsey Falls, there is a strong likelihood that they are related. I have been invited to take a trip to the area where I will learn how to conduct research in Quebec, which is different than the US.

Good to hear from you. I have some information on Archibald but haven't made the connection either. I am relatively certain that John Cassady was the son of James Casady and Catherine Montgomery. There is a monument in Kingsey Falls that indicates James and Catherine had a son, Alexander married to Catherine Elliott. Alexander and Catherine had a son, Edmund Hanning Cassady and there was a Hanning Cassady that was a nephew of John and a witness at his funeral. I am making a big assumption but if Hanning was the same Edmund Hanning Cassady, that would make John and Alexander brothers. I haven't been able to find any documentation to verify this.

I would appreciate any information you have and my e-mail address is gmorse5285@aol.com.

I will gladly share what I have been able to put together.
