Re: Fountain of Vernon Parish, La. Do you have an Audia Fountain? I think that is the correct spelling. She would have married a ?Moses Stephenson. My gr-grandfather was Scottish from Georgia and married a Fountain from La. He settled in Hardin Co., Tx. I am not sure if either of their names are spelled correctly or if there is a middle name. These could be their middle names.Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Wade,

I quite by chance met E. Grady Stephens in the Vernon Parish Library in the fall of 1997. At the time we happened to be researching the Craft family. He gave me his business card which gives only phone numbers. Grady had done quite a bit of research on the Stephens family. He also published some of his work in the Vernon Genealogist, the Journal of the Vernon Historical & Genealogist Society. The Society's address is PO Box 159, Anacoca, Louisiana 71403-0159. Even though I live out of state I belong to the society and strongly encourage a membership. It's only $15.00 a year and they publish 4 journals a year. You never what you will find in their publications. You may contact me by email if I can be of further help. Good luck in your research.

Hello Houston,
I know that my grandmother was in Vernon Parish, La. She was born in 1912, in a place called Cumberland, La. She had at least 2 brothers, Lloyd and Lonnie Stephens. Her name was Lassipene (Lessie) Stephens.
Lessie's parents names were Joe Stephens and Elizabeth(Liz-beth) Dillon.
The only other thing that I know is that Lessie is on a census, when she was about 7 years old.
If you can help or if these folks match any that you have,
I would appreciate any help!!

Thanks, Wade

Hello Everyone,

I'm hoping to find some information about a Joe Stephens. He married Elizabeth Dillon and they had 3 children; Lonnie, Llyod and Lessie(I have been told that her real name was something like Lassiphene). The 3 kids were born 1894, 1900 and 1912. Lessie was my Grandmother.

I knew very little about the Stephens or Dillon sides, but have found that they were around the Vernon Parish area.
About the only other thing I know is that Lessie and family is supposed to be listed on the 1920 census and its shows her as about 7 years old(I've not seen that yet).

Anyone out there with any clues, I would certainly appreciate any and all help!!

Thanks, Wade

My grandfather, their son was WILLIAM HOUSTON ROBERTS born 1898 in Vernon Parish, Leesville LA and married ANNA RUTH MILLER of Craighead County, AR in 1924. I would like to know ancestors of Helena and David. Thanks
