There is so little activity on this board I was wondering how many active researchers of the Fate surname there are? If you're actively researching a branch of Fate/Fait/Feit/Veit/Feights, how about posting here and letting everyone know so we can exchange most current info. A lot of my research can be found at www.genealogy.fatefamily.org. I desend from Martin Luther Fate (the immigrant) / Martin Luther Fate Jr. / Jesse S. Fate / James Martin Fate / Jesse Ernest Fate / Martin Eugene Fate / Martin Eugene Fate Jr.

I am researching what I believe is a completely different line of Feights than what all of you are. The line I am researching I believe came over from Germany around 1850 and went to Ohio. The father's name I believe to be Joseph Alexander (or vise-versa), the mother Catherine. There are many sons, including Thomas, John, Joseph, Frank and Leopold (Lee), and at least two daughters, Mary & Catherine. I have found different spellings of the last name in each census. I am a descendant of Joseph, who came to Kansas. To make matters more interesting, the siblings did not all spell their last name the same. Some went with Feight, some Faith, and some Fate. I have found one census spelled "Feth".

Do you know where your Feights came from in Germany? I have been unable to connect my line across to Germany.

All I have is what the census records say, which is Bavaria in most, but one does say Biren, which I believe may be misspelled and is supposed to be Bieren.

I'm definitely still in this category - I'm trying to find more information on:

Susan (Susanna) Fait born about 1795 in PA, married Jacob Carpenter. She has been a very elusive person to trace.

Jacob and Susanna Carpenter (my 4th Great Grandparents) had 8 children, some stayed in Pennsylvania others moved to Clay County, Indiana.

I'm not sure of their marriage date - but it would have prior to 1814, when their first child was born.

The only clues that I have to her family are members of Will's Creek Lutheran Church that met at Henry Lybarger's home in Londonderry Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania in 1805.
The minister's were Rev. Hanker and and later Rev. Charles Reese.
Listed as present are Frederick, Susanna and Catharine Fait. Other member surnames include Lybarger, Ball, Wolford, Cupp, Walker, etc.
source - "History of Bedford, Somerset and Fulton counties Pennsylvania", Chapter 43, p 2_371.

The other sources are the US Federal Census.
In 1790 in Bedford Co, PA there is listed an Abraham Faith, Thomas Faith and an Adam Fately.

In 1800 Cumberland Valley and Londonderry, Bedford Co, PA there is listed a John Fait and a Frederick Fait.

1810 Londonderry, Bedford Co, PA listed is a Jno Fate.

1820 Londonderry, Bedford Co, PA listed is a John Fait and a Daniel Fait

If anyone can help me with this puzzle - I'd greatly appreciate it.

It's good to know that I have company. I descend from Levi's brother, Adam Carpenter.

In the 1880 Census for Bard Twp, Bedford County, PA it shows that Adam and his son Thaddeus Carpenter are living with Levi Carpenter's family.

Levi Carpenter 57 Abt 1823 PA MD PA
Margaret Carpenter 37 Abt 1843 PA PA PA
Will Carpenter 19 Abt 1861 PA PA PA
Ellsworth Carpenter 18 Abt 1862 PA PA PA
Charles Carpenter 14 Abt 1866 PA PA PA
Janetta Carpenter 11 Abt 1869 PA PA PA
George Carpenter 1 Abt 1879 PA PA PA
Adam Carpenter 63 Abt 1817 PA MD PA
Thad Carpenter 18 Abt 1862 IN PA OH

This is the last piece of information that I have for Adam. Do you have any information on where Adam Carpenter died and is buried?

Hello I am Doreatha A. Reid

I have traced my family history to Mississippi & Lousiana.
My Great Great Grandmother was Susan Butler. She had 3 set of children. Their last names were: Mock, Fate & Ozan.
Mose Mack Fate was Great Grandfather. He had two children by different ladies. His daughter's name was Elizabeth Fate and the son's name was Nathan Fate ( he was killed in the service from what I was told. Elizabeth was my Grandmother. If you have any information on the possiblity for who my Great Grandfather's father maybe, it will be helpful.

Thank you,

Regarding Adam Carpenter:
I have been researching him also as I am a decendant of Adam and Ann Reamy. On one of the Clay Co., Indiana web pages I found that he died in 1894, but I haven't found his burial site, or Ann's.
I also found a post that leads me to believe Rachel Devore was the second wife and Ann Reamy the third, but I'm not sure that's correct as that is the only time I've come across that.
I'd be interested in any info on Jacob Carpenter and Susan Fait as I have found very little.
