I am searching for family information on Mary Hajduk(Hayduk)who emigrated from the Austrian Empire sometime after 1900. Mary Hajduk was from Galicia/Austria/Poland and married Michael Borys in Throop, PA in about 1914. She had previously lived/worked in Northampton, MA. Mary was born in Galicia. Her father was Martin Hajduk and mother was Teressa Padowski. Martin Hajduk's mother was Catherine Serkis. Spellings may not be accurate as I spell them as I remember hearing them spoken to me years ago!

Nina,

My name is John J. Rynkiewicz and I am the grandson of Mary Rynkiewicz (Hajduk) who lived and florished in the Nanticoke, PA area from 1911 - 1957. She was born in Austria in 1892 and died 17 Aug 1957 and was 65 at the time of her death. She married John Rynkiewicz from Russ/Poland on 15 Nov 1909. I heard there was two sisters in her lineage with the names Margarte and Catherine. I'm not sure of the rest of the members of her family as I am trying to research that at this point. I have a few pictures of my grandmother and if your interested I can email you some?. Let me know if you have any info I may be interested in on the Hajduk's? Appreciate all your help.

Hello, John,

Perhaps if you send the pictures I can see if there is any resemblance to my grandmother. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures that are currently online to share with you. There is so little clarity in records in my family. Between wars and immigration so much has been lost! Like you I am trying to piece together the puzzle pieces that do exist... but it is REALLY hard to do this.

Nina,
After looking at your posting again concerning Mary Hajduk it's odd that you mention her mother's name of Teresa. My GM's name was Mary Hajduk and her mother's name was Teresa. What her mother's maiden name was I am not aware. However, my Mary Hajduk didn't marry Michael Borys Troop but married a John (Jan) Rynkiewicz on 15 Nov 1909 in Nanticoke, PA. Mary was also from Austria and Immigrated to the U.S. in 1899 with her mother Teresa who was 36 at that time and a brother Thomas who was 9 years of age. MAry herself was listed as Mariana age 7. In MAry's obit it states she had two sisters, a Margaret Clarke and a Anna Waclowski and also a brother John from Plains, PA. Just seems like too many co-incidences, don't you think?

John,

Any information on Mary Hajduk would be most appreciated. There are few leads for me to follow at this point... especially with my current work schedule and workload not allowing me much time for research !

Thank-you,
Nina

I have determined tha names of Tomas & Teuphila Hajduk's children and I made a mistake in the number of children they had. There were seven (7) rather than six (6) children and they are as follows:

Wanda 1889 - 1948
Anna 1896 - 1990
John
Frank'Stanley
Mary 1915 - 1997
Joseph 1910 -1994

Tomas' wife Teuphila is listed as being born in 1871 and died in 1954.

I am presently awaiting both Bartholomej & Tomas' Naturalization Certificates from Wash, DC Archives.

John J. Rynkiewicz ( JJRynk @ hotmail.com)
