What part of Brooklyn and Ireland? I also can get you some information if you'd like. I am going to the Manhattan Library Saturday.
I do beleive my Kennelly's were from Cork and resided in the 5th ward in Brooklyn. Also Grand Ave and Stillman St. and in Park Slope Brooklyn. Well if you need any help with other info you can E-mail me at

I believe (from word of mouth) that my Kennelly's are from County Cork as well. My Ggggrandparents were listed in the 1860 census as living in Hornellsville New York. John Kennelly and Mary Brennan Kennelly were their names. All the Kennelly's following and including me were born there as well. BUT, I am unable to go any further than that. There were not many Kennellys in New York in that Time period and before so I am hopeful for a link. I am curious as to when the Kennelly's came over. Any info would be great if we have a connection or a possibility of one. Thanks. I would like to find other Kennelly cousins.

I came across your post - was your grandmother Grace Blackford Connor - your father Arthur Connor, Jr. originally from Williamsburg and Cypress Hills, Brooklyn?

Surnames: Kennelly-Shanahan
I also have a Kennelly connection but know little of the back ground. My paternal Grandmother was Nelly Kennelly before she married my grandfather, Michael Shanahan. Grandmother Nelly was born in County Cork, Ireland around 1890"s.or early 1900's. She migrated to New York while pregant with my father. My grandfather, Michael Shanahan was killed in the war in France while he was still very young, before my father, Willian Shanahan was born. She passed away the same year I was born-1958. I believe Grandma Nellie had brothers, Martin Kennelly -my late uncle and Martin Kennelly Jr.They resided on the south side of Chicago, Illinois and both( were)are attorneys. I was not close due to a falling out with my Grandmother Nellie.Any information wil be appreciated as I am looking for relations in Ireland.
