My grandfather was Jacob (Jack) Seltzer born in 1901 in Brooklyn NY. His parents were Martin and Bertha (Begy) Seltzer. Martin may have been a NYC policeman. Had a sister Anna who married a Gumble from Pa. The Seltzer family had a farm in Lakeview Pa. at sometime. Jack disappeared out of my mother's (Dorothy)life when she was a small child. It was rumored that he had another daughter by the name of Dorothy. Any info on what became of Jack would be helpful.

Hi Susan, we corresponded a number of years back. your Anna Seltzer married into my Gumble family. I have been relooking at your query, and was wondering, when was your mom Dorothy born, and what was her moms name, and when/where was she born?

I located Martin Seltzer's immigration info today, and was able to connect him to Jacob Seltzer (His brother) from those records. Here is what I now have, if you don't have yet.

Hi Erin, My Mom was born Sept 13, 1935 in Stamford Conneticut. She is the daughter of Anna Lucy Lintig, born Sept 15, 1902 in New York City, as far as we know. My mother had a brother Frederick Martin Seltzer, born Dec 24, 1926. I believe his death date is April 13, 1980. He died in Dallas Texas. We still dont know what happened to my mother's father. He evidently covered his tracks well. It is rumored that he had another daughter after my mother, and her name was suppose to be Dorothy too. But who knows! Thanks for the information. My mom loves hearing more about her lost family heritage. Have a great day! Susan

Hi Susan, the name for the S.S. death date in texas you gave me is for a Jacob Seltzer, not Frederick martin Seltzer?

Also to keep all the players clear, lol. Anna Lucy (nee Lintig) was the mother of Frederick Martin and Dorothy Seltzer?

I see Lucy, age 17 in the 1920 census with her parents Henry W. and Anna lucy Lintig in Brooklyn, Kings Co., N.Y. The are in district 12.

Do you know how Lucy and Jacob met? Probably an interesting story.
In 1920 Lucy's dad was a cook at a restaurant, and Jacob worked for his uncle at his butcher shop.....

There is a Lucy Seltzer in N.J. in 1930 census, married for about 5 years, but hubby and kids are not with her. Is this your Lucy?

I think Lucy Anne Lintig is a relative, perhaps a niece of my great grandmother Sophie Lintig Gerriets. I will be back in touch. I am researching this now.
