Hi to all:)

This is my first post to this site so it is fairly general; I am looking for connections to my Mac/McPherson family. They came over from Scotland and I believe went to the States(North Dakota)for a bit before coming to Canada (Alberta). Forenames of them include Peter, Neil, Roger, James & William.

Can you pin this information down a bit -- do you have a date of immigration? Do you know where your Mc/MacPHERSONs came from in Scotland? When they might have been in ND? Where they ended up in Alberta?

Even an approximate *when* and *where* makes it possible to do some lookups which might help you out a lot.

Also, names of spouses and children help to sort out the families one from another.

All the best,

Valorie

Homestead land grants were given to Peter, James and William McPherson in Dickey County, North Dakota about 1890. Search "blm glo records" for information.

My maiden name is Macpherson and I live in Central Scotland where I was born and brought up. Interestingly my grandmother's name was McPhail. Some of my relatives started a family tree way back years ago but never finished it but I believe that my father had cousins in Canada. A long shot but you just never know!

Hi there,

I am living in Canada and I have McPherson lines originating in Glasgow.

My grandmother is Susan McPherson and she had two sisters that I know of, Jeannie (1885) and Annie (1887). According to the 1901 census, it appears that the girls were attending St.Columba's boarding school.

Susan Clelland McPherson
b.24 Oct 1890 2:00 AM
77 Inglis Street
District Camlachie
in the Burgh of Glasgow

They were born to John McPherson and Mary Deans West m. 29 June 1865 in High Church. Susan married Alexander Gray and emmigrated to Canada OR she emmigrated to Canada and married here. I have no records to indicate which.

That's about all I have sadly.

Sandy

Also forgot to mention, the marriage to McPhail, her name was Mary.

My grandfather Wilfred Rodger McPherson
Born October 6, 1923
Place: Coleman, Alberta

His father: Peter McPherson
Birthplace: Springwell-Blantyre, Scotland

His Mother: Emily Nash
Birthplace: Gloucestershire, England

Peter McPherson's parents were

Peter McPherson(altered to Peter Morrison McPherson)
Birthplace: Old Monkland -1858
and Emily Leggat

they were married October 29,1880

Now this Peters parents were
Neil McPherson and Mary McPhail

:)
