Child of Capt. Thomas Howard
I am trying to determine if Thomas Howard, born about 1787 in S.C. and listed in the 1850 Census of Forsyth Co., GA is a son of Capt. Thomas Howard. The Thomas Howard of GA arrived in GA about 1846-47. I beleive Thomas Howard of GA had the following children: Mary A., b. 6-2-1816 Elizabeth, b. ca 1821 (Elizabeth could be a daughter in-law) Melinda, b. ca 1824 Missouri Amanda "Zeruah", b. ca 1826 Thomas B., b. ca 1831 William H., b. ca 1832 Samuel M. I., b. ca 1838 (Samuel could be a grandson) Stephen, b. ca 1841 (Stephen could be a grandson) Alexander, b. ca 1844 (Alex could be a grandson) Thomas Howard of GA wifes' name was Elizabeth b. ca 1799 All members of this family were born in S.C. I beleive that Thomas Howard of GA moved to Forsyth County, GA after receiving his part of Capt. Thomas Howards' Estate.

Re: Child of Capt. Thomas Howard
Hello. I was thrilled to see this name, Capt. Thomas Howard, however, I do not think the person(s) you are looking for are the same as I am. This is how the lineage goes of the Capt. Thomas Howard of my family: They were almost all born and buried in upper South Carolina. He was the son of Peter Howard and Ann Portman. Capt. Thomas Howard married Mary Polly Tubbs. They had a son named James Howard who married Rachel Lindsey. Their daughter, Mary Caroline married Peter Gosnell. Their daughhter Angeline Gosnell married George Washington Burrrell. Their son George Benjamen Burrell married Carolina Fortune and their daughter Cleland E. Burrell was my mother. Does any of this coincide with your info. My Capt. Thomas Howard was buried in South Carolina .

Re: Child of Capt. Thomas Howard
Yes, all of your information down to Angelina Gosnell agrees with the information that I have on Capt. Thomas Howards descendants thru your line. I thought that Capt. Thomas Howard may have had a son older than James that moved away and had not been discovered by the descendants. I was basing this on the fact that Capt. Thomas Howard had three sons listed in the 1790 census of Pickens Co., SC. I have since discovered that the three sons were James, Enoch, and Thomas, Jr. and I knew that Thomas Howard, Jr. went to McMinn, Tenn. but I thought that he was born after 1790. Thanks for the response.

Do you have any documentation for the name of Mary Tubbs as the wife of Thomas Howard? I would be pleased to have it if you do.

I am sorry. I do not have any documentation on Capt. Thomas Howards' wife. My information comes from various Rootsweb files and state she was the wife of Capt. Thomas Howard.
