My Zimmermann line comes from NiederUllersdorf, Bohemia. My grandmother Bertha married my grandfather Ferdinand Krause in Bohemia and immigrated to the USA in 1907, settling first in Jefferson County, Wisconsin, later moving to Wood County.

SCHMIDT/SCHOEN - We're trying to trace Frederick Christlieb Schmidt (1835-1893) from Giesmannsdorf, Saxony, Germany (now part of Poland). Married Maria Rosina Schoen (abt. 1844-1929) from Ullersdorf, Bohemia. His father's name was Johann Gottfied Schmidt. They were maried in Oberullersdorf and had seven children. Moved to USA in 1889(?)and settled in New Hartford and Harftord, Conn. This area of Saxony was located at the point where Germany, Poland and Bohemia (The Czech Republic) borders meet. Today the whole are is an open pit coal mine belonging to Poland with very few of the former towns in the area existing today. I believe Oberullersdorf (now Kopaczow, Poland) and the church in which they were married, and Ullersdorf (now Oldrichov, Czech Republic), still exist. Any info regarding the SCHMIDT/SCHOEN families or the area, please e-mail to: NESchmidt@aol.com Thanks!

Good morning, Mary,

Just saw your message on the RootsWeb Message Board. It is confusing to me. My only ancestor, that I have been able to trace, who came from Ullersdorf was Maria Rosina Schoen (Schön) born about 1844. Maria's father's name was Johann Gottlieb Schoen. Her mother's name was Johanna Schmidt. Maria Rosina Schoen married Frederick Christlieb Schmidt. I find no Bertha or Bertha Hein in my genealogy records.

Sorry. Wish I could be of more help. If you have any other questions or want information regarding the area of Ullersdorf and Oberullersdorf e-mail me back.

Happy huntin'

Norm Schmidt

Hello I've been trying to do some research myself.
There was an Ullersdorf in Bohemia, close to the German city of Zittau, it was probably closer to Hradek nad Nisou in the czech republic.
I know that the Zimmermann and Tschiedel names are/where quite common around that area until the end of WWII.
My Grandfather's sister (Motz) married a Emil Tschiedel and they had a son. All three were killed/died during WWII.
