My aunt, mother and I have been searching for my grandfather's family. His name was Hal Thompson. He and his parents, Alec David and Martha Thompson, are buried in Fayette County, Tenn. (southwest Tenn.) as is his grandmother, Eliza J. Thompson. We know that Eliza's husband, Frank Thompson, died and was buried in Alamance County, NC, possibly in the 1860's or '70's. She left NC with their children after his death and settled in Fayette County, Tenn. We also heard Granddaddy talk about an Aunt Emma. Hopefully, someone out there will recognize some of these names.

Surnames: THOMPSON, RUSSELL, HOLMES, ANDERSON
Subject Frank was born 1814 or 1815 per censuses, son of Robert & Ann (HOLMES) THOMPSON. Robert was son of English Immigrant, Thomas THOMPSON and wife Nelly AGAN, early settlers in the Saxapahaw area of Orange/Alamance Co. In 1848, Frank married first cousin once removed, Eliza J RUSSELL, daughter of John Craig & Rachel (THOMPSON) RUSSELL. Rachel was a daughter of Frank's Uncle John THOMPSON and Jennet ANDERSON (my ancestors). Both Rachel and her father-in-law, Alexander RUSSELL are buried at Hawfields Church, SW if the town of Mebane in Alamance Co. I've found no death date or burial place for Frank THOMPSON, and had been wondering what became of the family after the 1860 Census, which showed Frank as age 46 and Eliza as age 32; their son Alex was 8 in that census.

The NC families lost track of Frank's family, so it is particularly good to hear from someone of that line. You have lots of cousins in NC, and throughout the US.

I'm just jumping in here with something that's probably completely unrelated, but I'm going to try anyway..*smile*
I'm looking for the ancestors of Rebecca Minerva THOMPSON, or it could be Minerva Rebecca. She was married to George Washington CRA(W)MER. I have absolutely nothing else on her, other than they had a daughter, Frances, but thought I would take a stab at this THOMPSON line? :~) Yes, I'm REALLY reaching, I know!
