Meramble, Maramble, etc. 1700's and 1800's

Looking for anything on a John Meramble (or spelling variation?)who was in Litchfield county by 1790's at least. Wife said to be Elizabeth.

Had sons Nathan, John, Bronson.

Family mostly seen around Woodbury, Roxbury and surrounding area.

John Sr. seems to appear out of nowhere. Son John Jr. says on 1880 census for Woodbury (at age 84) that his mother was born CT and father born Spain (Spain?), but none of this has been proven. John Jr. most likely died Woodbury as that is where he was at age 84. But I have not yet looked for a death record to see if it says anything about his parents.

Any and all help and or clues greatly appreciated, thanks!

John B.

Ricker's Compilation of Connecticut Vital Records CD shows under Meramble.
Nathan, son of John & Elizabeth, b. 16 May 1799 - Woodbury VR
Under Merimble it shows
MERIMBLE:
Bronson, of Woodbury, mar Lois E. Perkins, of Roxbury, 25 Apr 1825, by Rev. Fosdic Harrison
Roxbury VR

There is nothing about John.

Hello, and thank you for your reply.

The elder John Meramble, seem to appear in Woodbury out of nowhere. It is of note that in the History of Woodbury it appears a 1st wife died in 1790. He marries Elizabeth sometime in the mid 1790's. But who she is (last name?) is unknown. I also did not see a marriage for them in Woodbury, which I thought was odd seeing as John was always around Woodbury, and died in Woodbury in 1804 according to the History of Ancient Woodbury in the vital records sections.

But, have added your information to my notes.

Thanks!

John B.

From various sources, it seems that John's wife Elizabeth was Elizabeth Galpin.
