I have copies of some Church minutes from the Mt Zion Baptist Church in Talledega County. My ggggrandfather David Foshee had land at Gantts Quarry and he is listed in those Church minutes. He was admitted into the Church in 1835 and died there in December 1843 or January 1844. I am trying to find out if this Church still exists and if there is a cemetery there. I am sure my gggrandfather is buried somewhere near the Church. Any info about the Church would be greatly appreciated.

I believe that this church, founded 1835, became the First Baptist Church of Sylacauga AL. This church has a good website. The records of this historic church are archived in the Special Collections Library of Samford University in Birmingham. You might find more about your relatives there.

Thank you so much for the information. I will first try to contact the Church and then Samford University. I really appreciate your help.
