Surnames: burns mcmillin fearon
my grandfather was Donald Burns who married Elizabeth Maria McMillin, her father was John McMillin. His wife was Sarah Hartley Fearon. They all lived in Whitehaven, Cockermouth, Harrington area.

Mary 1840 Ireland
Michael 1856 Workington (mostly lived in Whitehaven)
James 1875 Co.Durham (but soon back to W'haven)
Robert 1897 Harrington/Maryport (lived in Lowca/Whitehaven)

(No knowledge of a Donald BURNS)

Surnames: Burns, Jackson, Ramsey
I have William Burns B abt 1800 married to Esther Jachson
their son William Burns b 1832 in Dean cumberland, married to Elizabeth.
Their son Jonathan Burns b 1857 in Tallentine, Cumberland and married Elizabeth Ramsey born in Shilbottle, Northumberland.
Their son Donald Burns born in 1885 in Workington, Cumberland.
so far the names Michael, James & Robert haven't shown up in my research

Hi geoff

Cannot find a connection. The Burns go back to Arklow in Ireland but they were called Byrne then. Name was changed to Burns when an Edward was adopted and I am having a lot of trouble trying to check this out . You can see my tree if you wish!

I mentioned Mary BURNS before born c1840 Ireland ... in one census she said Antrim.

Her father was actually an Edward BURNS. He was born c1811 Ireland and died in Workington in 1854. His wife was Catherine c1807-1861.
