I am stuck on my own ancestor, Susan Wheatley, who married 1849 Felix Renick in Bourbon Co KY.
I continue to look for her parent's/siblings.
I also have another I am looking for as well, Adelina Wheatly, who married John Renick (father of Felix Renick from 1st marriage to Sarah Starr) 24 Nov 1842 Bourbon Co KY.
Anyone researching Wheatley info from VA or KY?

Warren,
Thank you for your responce and the address for Mrs. Hanks. It seems
everyone has a small piece of the information, but not all! I will
contact Mrs Hanks

Here is some additional information that I have for James Madison Wheatly,
My GGGrandfather.

The census records show 1822 to 1830 as birth dates. – 1850 Census- (1822
n KY) 1860 Census- (1825 in KY) 1870 Census- (1830 in KY) Also I found a
death certificate on John Henry Wheatley - James Madison Wheatley is
documented as the father of John Henry Wheatley on the death certificate.
Miss Broughton listed as his mother. So we now have a middle name.

He married Mary Elizabeth Broughton 17 May 1850 in Bourbon Co. There is
also a record in Clark Co for 9 May 1850. They are listed in the 1850
census in District 1, Bourbon Co with his occupation as a saddler. They
moved to Missouri between 1853 & 1855 Their children are:

William D Wheatley Born in KY
1850 - 1930

James C Wheatley Born in KY
1853 - ?

John Henry Wheatley born in MO
1855 - 1916

Ugene S. Grant Wheatley born in MO
1864 - ?

James remarried after Mary E Broughton died.

2nd Marriage to Mary Richard Tucker Sivils in MO

Amanda W Wheatley
1870 - 1874

Robert Benjamin Wheatley - My Great Grandfather
1871 -¬ 1947

Walter Albert Wheatley
1877 ¬- 1955

email from Don Bowman in Virginia

Hello all... I don't think I have copies of the actual records, but I did
find marriage records in two separate counties for James & Elizabeth....

They were married in Clark Co., KY (where the Broughtons lived) on 9 May
1850 by Rev. J. D. Shane. He was listed as 28 from Clintonville in
Bourbon Co., KY and she was listed as 17 from Clark Co., KY. A record also
exists in Bourbon Co., KY showing a marriage on 17 May 1850.

In 1850, the couple was listed on the Bourbon County census. James said he
worked as a saddler and was born in Kentucky. They had no children yet.

Tax records show they only stayed in Bourbon County a couple of years.
James Wheatley appeared on the tax lists from 1849 until 1852. Two others,
Daniel and Edmond Wheatley, also lived in Bourbon County during that time.
By 1854, however, there were no Wheatleys on the tax lists.

There is a record on Ancestry saying that an Amanda Wheatley (b.
c1824-1825 KY) married Philip G. Childers (or Childress) on 16 February
1847 in Bourbon Co., KY. She was apparently listed as the daughter of
Daniel Wheatley. I had not found that record when I was searching in
Bourbon Co., KY, but then I wasn't really concentrating on Wheatleys.

Census records in 1840 show Daniel Wheatley living in nearby Fayette
County. He's in his 60s, living with a woman in her 50s, three women in
their 20s, two women 15-20 (Amanda would've been abt. 15), a man in his
20s and a man 10-1 5 (James M. would've been abt. 18).

Back up 10 more years... Daniel Wheatley is in Fayette Co., KY in 1830..
he's in his 50s. His presumed wife is in her 40s. They have 7 daughters
(two 5-9, one 10-14, two 15-19, and two in their 20s)... They also have
two sons (one 0-4 and one 5-9)... Amanda would've been abt. 5 and James M.
would've been abt. 8.

Back up to 1820... Daniel is in Fayette Co., KY again... with 2 young sons
and 6 daughters.

The only Daniel Wheatley in 1810 is living in Culpeper Co., VA... with a
wife, 2 young daughters and a young son. Looking in Culpeper County, VA
marriage records... I find Daniel Wheatley marrying Susanna Cooper on 18
December 1800.

Now... in Kentucky death records on Ancestry... we get lucky. 53-year old
Amanda Childers died of consumption on 12 September 1876 in Bourbon Co.,
KY. The record says she was living in Bourbon Co.... but had been born in
Fayette Co. Her parents were identified as Daniel & Susan Wheatley, both
of Virginia.

My gut tells me that they are your best candidates for James' parents...
and Daniel likely died in Fayette Co., KY since he's apparently not on the
1850 census... maybe the mother remarried and they all moved to Bourbon
Co., KY. If James was one of the youngest children, the others likely
married and scattered long before 1850. It might take a will or good
marriage records in Fayette Co. to put it together. So...I think land,
court, marriage and will records in Lexington KY are the next step.
