I am looking for any one with information in my wife's great great grand parents. He was Frank J. Heffelfinger. She was Mathilda Fate. I believe her parents may have been Felix(1838-1914) and Adelaide (1839-1905) Fate. Next to Adelaide is Mary E. Fate(1810-1885) and her stone says "Grandma".There are also other Fates in the cemetary also. These are all in St Joseph Roman Catholic Cemetary on S. Washington St. in Tiffin Ohio. I can understand the confusion on the Fate name. On the LDS site I have found Fate from Germany and Mc Fate from Ireland. I suppose it is possible that some of the McFates may have dropped the Mc and became Fate.

Karl, I've looked at the line of Fates in Tiffin Ohio and have not been able to link them with the rest of the lines of Fate in Ohio that I have a large amount of information on. One thing that significantly differentiates them from my documented line is that they are Roman Catholic. My documented line was strongly Methodist, with many being Exhorters, Edlers, Deacons, and Ministers. You can find my info at http://www.genealogy.fatefamily.org. Steve.

My great grandfather Bernard Fate (Born 1893) lived in Tiffin all of his life. He was married to Irene Wagner in 1919. They had six kids: Catherine, Thomas, Alin, Del, Bernard, and Mary Jo.
I cannot find any generations before Bernard, do you have any information on the fates that may help me?
Thanks

Re: Fate Family in Tiffin Ohio
Assuming Bernard lived a decently long life, I would think that you could order a death certificate and maybe find out who his parents were. According to Vitalchek death records after 1909 are available. Let us know what you find out.

I, too, have traced some "Fate" relations back to Tiffin, only their last name is spelled "Feight" now. I believe the name may have been changed somewhere along the line. The ones I have were Joseph, Frank & Leopold, who were all born in Tiffin in 1860, abt 1862, and 1864, respectively, and I believe their father was also named Joseph, and was born in Bavaria (Germany on some census records). Let me know if you have any info on this family, or if this helps at all.

I am also doing research on the Fate, Feight family from Tiffin, Ohio. I have info that they came from Bavaria around 1849-1850. The parents names were Alexander(Joseph)and Catherine. Their first son, Thomas was born in Bavaria. The next son, John was born in Ohio. I am interested in any info you may have on this family.

Don't forget it was also spelled Fath, Feth, Faeth & Faith, besides Fate & Feight! I also believe that the other "Fate" families in the area might be closely related , as I believe they arrived around the same time, and settled in the same area.

Re: Fate Family in Tiffin Ohio
The Fate line in Licking County circa 1800 came to the US before for war. So I think to connect the two we need to go back to Bavaria to find the common ancestor. Farthest back I can go is a Martin Luther Fate, born circa 1754 in Germany.
