My father was Glenn Mayes. He was born in California, lived in both CA and AZ(spent time and has family in the prescott area. I would like to trace my family tree on my fathers side and would like any info anyone can offer. My Grandmother lived and died (Pioneer Home) in Prescott, AZ. Thanks

I have the Ninian Lafayette Mayes family information--They went to Selma, California in 1918 or so from Texas--Ninian died and was buried there. Does this have a connection to your Mayes family?

My California Mayeses moved there from Vanderpool in Bandera County, Texas in 1918 during a drought there. 160 people picked up and rode the train to Selma, Fresno County, California. They included Neanian LaFayette Mayes and his children. They worked in vineyards, fields, and canneries. Some of the children and their families returned to Texas, others stayed in California--are there still. Nean is buried there. I looked for him in Texas death records for years. My other Mayeses in California moved there in the late 30s or early 40s. They were Walter Watts Mayes and his wife Muriel Ann Knight Mayes and Son William Knight Mayes. I have lost track of them Walter and Muriel are deceased--the 70s. They lived in San Jose.

Sorry, I don't think so. My Walter Watts Mayes and his wife, Muriel Ann Knight had one son William Knight Mayes. They moved to San Jose in the late 30s or 40s and the parents died in the 1970s. William Knight Mayes had two children: Mickey and Craig (adopted.) For a while he was a fireman and was born in about 1940. Thanks for the answer anyway.
