Looking for descendants of Samuel and Bertha. His offspring include Jay, Bernice, Erma, Edith, Henrietta, and Betty. Samuel moved from Ukraine to NYC to New Jersey. My great grandmother Frieda was the sister of Samuel's father William.

Hello cousin Diane. I am the daughter of Samuel Stoffer and Sophie Freed Stoffer. Bertha was my father's second wife. My brother Jay is the only other surviving sibling. The Stoffers may have come from the Ukraine, but my father's family came from David-Gorodok in Bialyruss. We are, however, the right family. You have all the names right, except that Irma is spelled with an "I". Please answer if you are still monitoring this. I will call if you send a number.

Hello Bernice, You may not remember me but my fathers store was directly across from your fathers store. My knickname was/is Sonny. I remember you and your family very well. The internet is just amazing.

My father had stores in 2 locations on Prince St., and 1 on Hawthorne Ave. The first on Prince was in the 20's and 30's, and I only remember the families who had children who went to school with me. Some of us moved to the Weeuahic neighborhood and went to high school together. From the second location, near Springfield Ave, I chiefly remember the stores with which we did business, because we moved from the neighborhood in 1942. Wow! That's a long time ago. Several people had children called "Sonny". I even had a brother called "Sonny" who died before I was born, so this doesn't help me much, because I don't remember your last name. Some people were called "The Pickle Lady" or "The Vegetable Lady", but never by their last names. What kind of business did your parents have? That would be a good place to start. Maybe we could trace the connection from there.

Boy, did that message ramble! I'm still in shock. I have dozens of other questions to ask you, if you'd like to stay in touch. I left New Jersey in1960, and have only been back to drive through on the Turnpike or go to funerals. You may even know old friends of mine with whom I have lost contact.

Hi Bernice, In 1942 I was 11 years old. I guess even at that
age I was noticing attractive girls. I think Jay had curly hair and Irma drove a green station wagon.
I went to Morton St school and the Talmud Torah school also on Morton St. Your dad's store was the one near Springfield Ave.I was in it many times
Some names from the past are Elaine Granitur,Genet family,
Melon family,Melrod,Gillick, Wigler, Lehrhoff.Richman. I am still Jerseyan,married 52 years, 3 children and 4
grandchildren. This is fun.

This is fun, but I guess I'm old-fashioned. I prefer the contact of phone conversations. Because I have unlimited long distance, calls don't even cost me extra money. If you'd like to send me your number, I'll call, but not right now.I have a sore throat and am running a fever. All I want to do is sleep.

Yes, I do remember all of those people. I even remember you, now. You had straight blond hair, and were built like a junior football player. At one time, you were even in my class at Morton St. school.

I've been widowed for 16 years, have 2 sons and 2 grandsons.
Although I have lived in many places, I now live in Westchester county New York to be near one of my sons and my grandsons.
