For 20 years I have been tracing my proud Cajun families, who lived for several generations in and around Lake Arthur and Jennings in Jefferson Davis Parish. My g-grandfather was Onezime Trahan who married Eva Duprea Biarbe/Beard.
Eva was the daughter of Dupreville Biarbe and Emelisa Broussard. Onezime, from what I have determined was the son of Joseph Paul Trahan and Marie Josephine Duhon. Onezime and Eva Duprea had numerous children, including (1) Evelina who married Lessard DuPiue, (2) Eva Duprea m Israel Dubois,
(3) Onezie m Lesima Guidry, (4) Lelema m Phillp Broussard,
(5) my grandfather Joseph Dupre who married Martha Mae Pruett, (6) Isaac m Odile mallet, (7) Clobule m Ellen Duhon,
(8) Divine Azelie m Eugene Dupuis, (9) Onezime, (10) Alce m
Melisa Trahan, (11) Melizia , Raymond Istre, (2) Hamilton
Joseph, (14) Felix m Marguerite Vincent.

Clear documentation regarding whether Onezime's father was, in fact, Joseph Paul Trahan is lacking although some documents do seem to support this. If this is correct, the genealogy of this line can easily be traced to Nicholas Trahan in France. I am very interested in obtaining a more complete genealogy of the descendents of Onezime's children, many of whom still live in southwest Louisiana. I will be happy to share additional information I have obtained. Also, it would be helpful if anyone has actual documents to link Onezime to Joseph Paul Trahan. Finally, I have never been able to determine the parents of Emelisa Broussard who married Dupreville Biarbe. Can anyone help with this?

My grandmother was Ozeia BEARD married to Joseph Hiram Brown
They lived in Lake Arthur, La. My research indicates that Ozeia was the daughter of Adam BEARD and Emily BENOIT. Adam's parents were Dupreville BEARD and Emelisa BROUSSARD.
Like you, I do not know the name of Emelisas's parents. I have more BEARD Information on Family Tree Maker 4.0 and will glady email it to you if you so desire, Just drop me an Email if you are interested. Most of the family is from Jefferson Davis. Acadia, Vermilion and Lafayette Parishes.

I found a link to Emelisa Broussard and her parents.

Emelisa and Dupre Beard were my gggrandparents.
Emily (Benoit) and Adam Beard my ggrandparents.
Francoise (Beard) and Famo Barry my grandparnts.

Would like info on Famo if anyone has any. You may have info calling him Famo, Famon, Famar, Femeaux or Euphemon.

In addition, his brothers and sisters were William, Azina, Medora(?) and Mary, their last name was spelled Berry.

My mother says she remembers Aunt Mary talking about the Berry name being shortened from Ekenberry(sp).

Thanks,

Barbara

Happy Thanksgiving Gaylord,

I am the granddaughter of Frances Beard Barry. As you probably know, Frances is your grandmother Ozeia Beard's, sister. I have a box of pictures that belonged to my grandparents, Famo and Frances Barry and there are two pictures of Durphy Brown in military uniform. One is not dated but the other is, Durphy Brown March 23, 1941. I would be happy to email copies to you or attach them here if you would prefer. Let me know one way or the other and I will get copies to you.

Barbara
