Hi Linda,
I certainly hope there is a connection. My great grandfather's name was Carl Louis Friedrich born in Oelze in 1866. In the church records I have the youngest child is Alwin Edmund born in 1884 but there is another son born in 1870 named Heinrigh Albert Richard Friedrich.
In 1959 I lived in Irvington and visited the butcher shop on Stuyvesant Ave. many times.
Please let me know if this is the same meat market.
I am so glad to hear from you, I have been trying to connect with the Friedrichs for some time.

Stuveysant Avenue is the correction location. My grandfather, Albin, came to America with his brother, Arno, (sometimes referred to as Arnold) to work for their Uncle Max Friedrich and train as butchers under his direction. I believe they left 3 more brothers and 2 sisters in East Germany when they came here. As indicated their father's name was Richard Friedrich and their mother's name was Agnes Wege.
Are you related to either of the two gentlemen, Max or Arno, or perhaps another extension I am not aware of?

Linda,
I am so excited to finally find my mothers family in Irvington. I remember Arno, he lived with my Aunt Louisa Rapphold and her son Willie in the apartment over the shop. I visisted her many times. My mother was Amelia, her father was Carl Friedrich. My mother had one sister (can't remember her name right now, I know she married and lived in Canada. My mothers mother died young and her father remarried. I don't have any names.
Where do you live? I live in Pennsylvania, I have a sister and three brothers everyone all over the country.
Do you have the church records from Oelze? Aunt Lousia gave them to me years ago. I would be glad to send them to you. Can you fill me in on any other Friedrichs still in the area?
We kind of lost touch when Aunt Lousia died, her son Willie I wasn't great on communicating.
Please e mail me direct it's easier

Linda,
From what I can figure out so far from the records I have. Your great-grandfather Richard and my great-grandfather Carl were brothers. Uncle Max was also a brother. Aunt Lousia was a sister. There are quite a few other siblings. The records are in German so it's hard to figure them out, also there was another marriage involved.

Ginny, I have not been on in a while, but came across your message board. I was looking for pictures of the butcher store. My husband Gary, was Conrad Friedrich son and Conrad's father was Albin. If it is the same butcher store - I lived there when I was 5 years old - long before I knew my husband. we are trying to put together loose ends. Write me back so we can exchange details! Thanks, Linda
