I am alledgedly related to the John Hancock who signed the Declaration of Independence. Born in Braintree, MA in 1737 and died in 1793. There must be a family tree that has been developed somewhere. How do I find it? Would very much appreciate some information. As you can tell, I am a real novice at this.
Thank you.

I found a book in the Seattle Public Library "The Hancock Family of England and America", by Arvil Dale Hancock, 1993. This has all the background information on "The" John Hancock. It shows he had one daughter who died at one and a son who died at 8 years old.

Hi Rebecca - I am just starting to research my Hancock ancestors. Thank you for your offer to share. I would love to have your info. I could either verify or find lost relatives. My grandmother was Josie Hancock, d/o John Hancock of Mechanicsburg, IL. I believe they were from Kentucky and at some time immigrated from Yorkshire, England Regards - Dave Roderick

I am supposedly related to Ebenzer Hancock John Hancocks brother.
They are the Sons of John Hancock and Mary Hawkes Hancock . John Married Dorothy Quincy (1747-1830) daughter of Edmund and Elizabeth Wendell Quincy,28 August 1775. They had two children both died young. I have two different dates for John's death 1793 and October 8, 1795. I would like information on Ebenezer Hancock.

Rebecca,
My mother has recently started to trace her Hancock family tree, starting with her immediate family in TN. She believes they were originally from South Carolina. Oldest branch of the tree she can find thus far is Francis Marion Hancock who died in the Civil War. If you have any information related to that line, would love to get it to my mom. Appreciate any help, Jennifer

If you are still willing to share your information, it would be greatly appreciated if you could give me a copy of what you have... I have traced my Hancock ancestors back to the 1700's in Charles County Maryland and it would be interesting to see if they had any connection to the Hancocks in MA.

I am related to John Hancock on my mother's side. She had a great aunt named Jeanette Hancock.
I am also interested in finding out how far back the family goes in England.
