There are lots of Hourigans and their descendants living in Marion County Kentucky, Texas, Missouri, and even Indianapolis, Indiana. They are all descendants of Patrick Hourigan who came to America about 1765 and who fought in the American Revolution. My mother was Pauline Hourigan, born in Gravel SWitch, Kentucky, USA.

I am also a descendant of Sarah Hourigan who married Matthias Lezotte. They moved from Canada to Wisconsin. Her father was John Hourigan. I am also looking for anyone who would know where John and Sarah came from in Ireland and who Sarah's mother was.

Re: is there any hourigans outside of ireland?????
This is just a coincidence but my mother was also Pauline Hourigan and her father was Patrick Hourigan, but Patrick was born in Araluen, NSW in 1888 and my mother in Kandos NSW in 1927.

Mary Hourigan b 1859, Co Cork emigrated to New Zealand when she was about 15, married Timothy Cosgrove in 1876 and had nine children.
Her father may have been Patrick Hourigan and mother Margaret Coleman. If any one can help with this please contact me.

We are the hourigans from New Zealand.
We are born and bred NZ'ders.
We love the AllBlacks, we love our beer and we love our horseracing.
