I recently purchased a large wooden stave barrel with the following information printed on it:

To: Capt Gerson J. Harris
Pepin, WI
I would like to find out any information about Gerson Harris, his occupation, and the dates of his life. I am guessing that he may have been a riverboat captain, as there were a couple of riverboats with captains with the last name of Harris.

I have a great uncle Gerson J. Harris who lived in Pepin, WI in 1940. Worked as a forester. Coincedence? Maybe not! Interesting.
