BATTLE HYMN OF H AYES
Tune: “Battle Hymn of the Republic”

There’s something strong and mighty in a good old family name;
The name of Hayes shines very high upon the scroll of fame;
For nearly all our family has pursued a lofty aim.
The clan goes marching on.

CHORUS:

Glory to our grand old family,
Virile, worthy, brave and loyal!
Glory, Hayes, “Nil Des-per-an-dum!”
The Clan goes marching on!

The House of Hayes has cherished dear traditions of the past;
With the world’s great movements they have all their fortunes cast;
And when they pledge their honour they are loyal to the last.
The clan goes marching on!

cont'd...6 more stanzas

That's very good and apropos to the stout Scottish Hays heritage. Where are the six more stanzas? :-)

Hi Christine - enjoy.

BATTLE HYMN OF HAYES
Tune: “Battle Hymn of the Republic”

There’s something strong and mighty in a good old family name;
The name of Hayes shines very high upon the scroll of fame;
For nearly all our family has pursued a lofty aim.

CHORUS:
Glory to our grand old family,
Virile, worthy, brave and loyal!
Glory, Hayes, “nil Des-pay-an-dum!”
The clan goes marching on!

The House of Hayes has cherished dear traditions of the past;
With the world’s great movements they have all their fortunes cast;
And when they pledge their honor they are loyal to the last,
The clan goes marching on!

Henry, Daniel, George and James were fathers of our clan;
Posterity of Richard and Sir Edmund never ran;
Patrick was quite virile and Sir John a sturdy man,
The clan goes marching on!

Sir George was Queen’s justice with a serious intent;
Edmund was adviser, everything he said he meant;
Joseph was a hero; Rutherford the President.
The clan goes marching on!

James was loyal justice for His Majesty in Wales;
Among great names in Ireland that of Michael prevails;
How could the nations but advance when Hayes Clan never fails;
The clan goes marching on!

Pliny built a railroad; John was doctor to the prince;
Catherine a singer, there has been none sweeter since;
John Hayes was a lawyer who could any court convince.
The clan goes marching on!

England, Wales and Scotland, and the Emerald Isle as well;
In U.S.A. and Canada, in City, plain and dell;
Where the English tongue is spoken—that is where Hayes kinsmen dwell.
The clan goes marching on!

The sons of Hayes have courage any task or foe to face;
The daughters are all lovely with their beauty, charm and grace;
The leaven of our family is a blessing to the race.
The clan goes marching on!

Thank you. That is very wonderful and really hits what I have found in my research on the stocky physical and personal disposition of the Hays/Hayes character and attributes.
